Well he's not wrong.
Results from this poll I made for a laugh. Roy and O'Byrne from my in-progress story watch Murderbot. Would you believe me if I told you I initially wrote this bit before S1E7 aired and when it did I went absolutely mental. An uncanny degree of similarity between Gurathin and O'Byrne is going on. I love it. If they reveal he was augmented against his will I'm going to walk outside and scream.
Roy and O'Byrne are from Virtual Ground. The Y2K bug broke reality and they're trying to fix it. O'Byrne in particular is running away from a life and past actions she's really rather forget about after working for a mysterious entity for a number of years that had her trapped under its thumb.
Killers Walk
It's not supposed to make sense it's just supposed to be scary.
I love love love identity reveals and tbh the one in murderbot is so delicious bc it really is just a guy (gender neutral) trying to just be left alone at its job... it is also diy-ing how to do human interaction despite it's incredible capacity for violence and clearly is doing it's Very Best
ME WHEN THERE'S A DRAMATIC REVEAL OF A HORRIBBLE SECRET THAT MIGHT RUIN EVERYTHING FOR THE PROTAGONIST(S RELATIONSHIPS) IN MY SHOWS
Gamer I live for identity reveals in media. Holy shit as soon as I found out we're getting one in Murderbot I went bonkers. I got like an entire laundry list of weird characters where they have to dramatically reveal something in-human (or in MB's case, yknow. Something along the same vibe) about themselves that might ruin everything they've got going on.
It's been so cathartic and satisfying watching Murderbot just fumble, struggle, and especially the dedication on the showrunners to it being equipment, it being a thing, it being something that has a role and a job and it's turned it into a sense of duty out of a slowly formed personal desire to be something more (whether it realises this or not)
I'm gonna talk about this more soon--but this shit is like crack to me, I love it so much I made my own story where it's a pivotal part of one of the two main characters >:)
Thank you @squidknees this template was extreemly entertaining.
Does this count as my first art* of 2026.
Roy and O'Byrne are from Virtual Ground.
VIRTUAL GROUND is an in-development story about the Y2k Bug breaking reality, and horrors bleeding through into the real world via the internet.
Guys its dripping on the carpet. The carpet guys. Please. It's dripping-- it's going to stain. Please.
Today's shitpost warmup is brought to you by a bit that @cannibal-wings wrote after we both laughed at this tumblr post.
Anyway joke explanation under the cut so everyone can laugh
