Results from this poll I made for a laugh. Roy and O'Byrne from my in-progress story watch Murderbot. Would you believe me if I told you I initially wrote this bit before S1E7 aired and when it did I went absolutely mental. An uncanny degree of similarity between Gurathin and O'Byrne is going on. I love it. If they reveal he was augmented against his will I'm going to walk outside and scream.

Roy and O'Byrne are from Virtual Ground. The Y2K bug broke reality and they're trying to fix it. O'Byrne in particular is running away from a life and past actions she's really rather forget about after working for a mysterious entity for a number of years that had her trapped under its thumb.

Anyway joke explanation under the cut so everyone can laugh

O'Byrne used to be known as Walking, and has a questionable muddy past. While she was Walking she did a lot of very awful, very questionable things and worked for a mysterious entity that kept her trapped in a cycle of doing jobs in return for security and safety. The entity sent her instructions, and more, via text messages on her mobile phone. She's gone through many phones since, as they tend to not stay normal very long in her possession. In this bit she's being texted by Sam, her boss. I've yet to decide how much about her past he knows, but this can be interpreted either as general confusion (she tends to type sloppily) or suspicious concern.

OH YEAH, Roy's from another version of reality. He should be dead. He is dead.

Turns out making your characters interact with your current fandom obsession is an extremely good and fun idea.

O'Byrne and Roy are from Virtual Ground, a post-Y2K horror story where the internet is haunted and parallel universes exist - set in Australia, circa 2003.

This crossover is just for laughs, Virtual Ground - Abroad. My freaks get to fight ghosts and the Winchesters discover that when the Aussies say your PC has a worm they mean it literally.

Roy and O'Byrne are from Virtual Ground, and sometimes they go abroad and breach other franchises.

"You told them about the port!?"  "What am I stupid? No, I didn't tell them about the port. I told them you were the best hacker I know."  "Roy."  "It's a half truth."  "Roy its a white lie--"  "Yeah, so there's some truth to it."  "You've been spending too much time around me, man."  "I know."  "So what, we just, ask them to turn around? Close their eyes?" "I told them you have performance anxiety."  "Oh fuck off."

O'Byrne has a port on her neck, she can use it to 'plug in' to devices such as computers and phones, and manipulate them in a rudimentary way. She primarily does this to quickly gain information, or to get around pesky things such as login passwords. Only for very important and very legally justifiable reasons of course. She works for the Australian government after all.
