Study Tips for busy or lazy students (mostly online school)
Yes, I’m doing this. Whether you’re juggling 9 different extracurricular activities alongside school (ahaha me) or if you just don’t feel like doing the assignment, then I got the advice for you.
Teachers and Classes
Find out which teachers have strict late work policies and which teachers don’t (that way you can prioritize assignments)
In addition to the step above, check which classes are the most important or which ones have a heavier impact on your future grades (for me, that class is Japanese 1 because it counts for my high school GPA)
Also check which teachers are slow on grading stuff because that way you can rank your assignments on most to least important
Same thing goes to classes. If they interfere with something more important (rank your things by importance. Is that free virtual art class more important than your math class??? I don’t think so but it’s up to you) so you can decide what classes you should make sure you attend
BE NICE TO YOUR TEACHERS!!!! It might save your grade a few times
Studying and Note taking
Your main goal is efficiency here. Don’t waste time making fancy headers unless they help you
Again, efficiency is key. Make small little things like “King G3 is a meenie poopoo head. Taxes suck” if they help you
If your professor/teacher records the zoom meeting and sends the recordings out, that gives you an extra chance to take pretty notes if you want to and if you have the time
If you have a friend (or multiple friends) who’s in the same class or has the same professor/teacher, then I’d suggest making a shared google doc with notes you take in class so you can reference them when you have to study
Use that 80:20 rule to help with studying from a textbook
Health and other stuff
Don’t put your health at risk just for school. Take breaks and listen to you body
Have a hot or cold drink (whichever suits your fancy) as you attend the lectures or zooms
Snacks are just as important as drinks so have some at your desk or workspace
Take naps or just chill out during breaks if you need/want to (just remember to watch the clock or set alarms!)
