Anyone else irritated by just how many virtual voice readings there are on audible? I wish there was a setting to hide them. I wanna support narrators. And virtual voice never feels the same. And you can use tools for virtual voice on books you own for free. I'm just tired of wading through the slop. 😭

The virtualization of human elements really knows no bounds these days.  The very tip of the iceberg here is something like autotune or the talkbox.  Both of these machines are able to generate voice-like sounds by a mix of different instruments that simulate the way vocal chords move.  It is very common for a recording artist to have work done to their voices after the track has been made, since singing is all but perfect.  Attempts to go beyond digitizing the human voice in post production have been very fruitful so far, and modern computer generated voices are very convincing to the human ears.
