What’s Brooke for and how did she come about?

hello hello I screamed a small amount when I saw this ask THANK YOU

brooke is one of my older ocs that I still use today! She’s part of a story called Virtually Nothing (the name isn’t important) that takes place in a high school that’s essentially designed to try to promote perfect political correctness. It’s basically about how the characters might differ from or go along with the school’s ideology.

Brooke is supposed to be like, a pessimistic individualist in terms of how she sees the world around her. She was originally designed to be a popular girl tm but not so much anymore. She still has that kinda top girl persona in some ways but she’s just kinda upper-middle class in the social hierarchy of the school

I’m also trying to incorporate a factor of cultural dysphoria for her, her being an indian-american child of immigrants. It isn’t something people really shed much light on in media and I’d like to bring the experiences of disconnect from one’s culture(s) that many of my peers (and to some extent, myself) experience!

and again! thank you so much for asking! I’ve been trying to make brooke more interesting than just ‘the cynical girl who has problems with her identity’ so it’s nice to write about her like this!
