CAT VIDEOS - ECHT JETZT?

Warum nicht? Ein verträumter Blick in die Kamera, ein waghalsiger Sprung aus dem Fenster, eine Pfote, die sanft über Schnurrhaare streicht: Es genügen oft Kleinigkeiten, die ein Katzenvideo zum YouTube-Hit mit zig Millionen Klicks machen. Am meisten Spaß macht es dabei die Videos gemeinsam mit FreundInnen zu schauen.

UND DAZU GIBT’S EIN FESTIVAL?

Ja. Mit dem Cat Video Festival Vienna will die Vienna Shorts Agentur genau das möglich machen: in der Arena Wien im Sommer unter freiem Himmel einen Abend lang gemeinsam mit euch felinen Filmen frönen. In den vergangenen Jahren waren Kult-Kater Henri, Schachtelfreund Maru, Grumpy Cat oder Local Heroes wie die kostümierten Herren der Band Kreisky auf der großen Leinwand zu sehen. Auch dieses Jahr finden sich im Programm, neben beliebten Internet-Cat-Videos, künstlerisch anspruchsvolle und zugleich verspielte Kurzfilme und Musikvideos rund um das Thema Katze. Mit eurer finanziellen Unterstützung stellt die VIS Agentur die vierte Ausgabe des Cat Video Festivals in der Arena Wien auf die (Katzen-)Beine!

WOFÜR BRAUCHT VIS DEINE UNTERSTÜTZUNG?

Die Organisation des Festivals ist mit mehreren Monaten Arbeit verbunden. Ein Team von zehn Menschen arbeitet an der Kuratierung des Programms, der Klärung der Filmrechte, der Erstellung des Cat-Sujets und den Vorbereitungen und Aufbauten vor Ort. Auch für musikalische Unterhaltung vor und nach dem Programm möchten wir sorgen. Der Einsatz dieser Menschen soll entlohnt werden und damit die Veranstaltung auch weiterhin bei freiem Eintritt stattfinden kann, brauchen wir deine Unterstützung! A THOUSAND FUEGOS LIVE @ METROKINO

Zwei Cousins, Halloumi und Apfelmost: Christoph Schwarz und Matthias Peyker verbindet nicht nur das Familiengen, sondern auch das künstlerische Schaffen. Mit seinem neuen Film Ibiza drehte Schwarz quasi das Making-of zum neuen Album This Is Evolution Pt.II von Peykers Band A Thousand Fuegos. Und irgendwie ist dies Album auch der Soundtrack des neuen Films. Damit lag das zweite Live-Spektakel im Metrokino nahe. Ja, sie betreten gemeinsam die Bühne für ein besonderes Konzerterlebnis.

Film und Albumrelease treffen sich im Kinosaal, um sich gegenseitig die Flausen auszutreiben. Ibiza liegt nicht im Mittelmeer, sondern in einem Kärntner Gartenbassin - und die MiniDV-Kamera filmt immer mit.

Um dem Ganzen nun noch ein Krönchen aufzusetzen, folgt im Anschluss der sogenannten Cinemasession die Album-Release-Party von Seayou Records. DJ Preschi spielt dazu einen Mix aus Pop, Fusion Jazz und R&B Balladen, elegant und easy flowing, wie ein Gläschen Veuve Clicquot.

INTERVIEW WITH ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PETER MILLARD

Collaborating with Q21 (MuseumsQuartier), we invite several artists each year to exhibit and work in Vienna for one to two months.

Peter Millard is an English animation filmmaker with a taste for the absurd and a stream of consciousness approach to filmmaking that is open to explosive outbursts of humor and chaos. Having graduated from the Royal Collage of Art in London, his work was featured in film festivals in Ottawa, Edinburgh, Dresden, etc. and in retrospectives in the US, Japan, and South Korea.

In May, during his month-long residency at Q21, he will develop an installation, exploring conflicting juxtapositions between image, sound and rhythm. The small exhibition will be conceived in collaboration with Hungarian animation artist Réka Bucsi at the ASIFAkeil in MuseumsQuartier and opened on May 30. Last, but not least Peter will also be part of an animation workshop, held by MUKATO (Muzak, Karo Riha, Thomas Renoldner).

INTERVIEW WITH ARTIST IN RESIDENCE RÉKA BUCSI

Collaborating with Q21 (MuseumsQuartier), we invite several artists each year to exhibit and work in Vienna for one to two months.

Réka Bucsi is a Hungarian independent animation filmmaker with an organic and intuitive approach to the craft. Her films start from particular details and develop into free-flowing and surreal observations on the irrationality of the world. A regular at major festivals, her work has been screened at Sundance, Berlin and SXSW, among others.

In May, during her month-long residency at Q21, she will be working a small exhibition at the ASIFAkeil in MuseumsQuartier together with British animation filmmaker Peter Millard, which will be opened on May 30 and run all throughout June. And last, but not least Réka curated an animation programme for the young audience at VIS 2016.

INTERVIEW WITH ARTIST IN RESIDENCE UNA GUNJAK

Collaborating with Q21 (MuseumsQuartier), we invite several artists each year to exhibit and work in Vienna for one to two months.

Una Gunjak is a Bosnian filmmaker based between London and Paris. In her previous life, Una was known as editor but then went on to write and direct and made herself a name at the world's most prestigious film festivals (Cannes, Sundance, Sarajevo, etc.).

In May, during her month-long residency at Q21, she will be working on the script development of her first feature film, "Alfa", a story about a mother and her daughter who intense bond turns toxic and bitter as they try to find a better future outside of their defunct home country. During the festival she'll furthermore be on the jury for the Music Video Competition.

PETER MILLARD GESTALTETE VIS-TRAILER 2016

Peter Millard hat ein Gespür für Absurdes. Mit seinen oftmals kindlich anmutenden Zeichnungen trifft der britische Animationsfilmemacher einen ganz besonderen Nerv und weiß mit seinen explosionsartigen Ausbrüchen von Humor und Chaos zu überraschen. Für VIS 2016 gestaltete er den Trailer.

Peter Millards Filme liefen auf unzähligen Festivals und in Retrospektiven in den USA, in Japan und Südkorea. Im Mai ist er für eine einmonatige Residency im Q21 zu Gast und entwickelt u.a. in Zusammenarbeit mit Réka Bucsi eine Ausstellung im ASIFAkeil im MuseumsQuartier (Vernissage am 30. Mai um 15 Uhr).

Bei VIS wird Millard zudem einen Animationsfilmworkshop halten - und er gestaltete auch den grandiosen offiziellen Trailer zum Festival. Und diese 74 Sekunden zeigen ganz genau, wie ein Trailer von Peter Millard auszusehen hat: fesselnd, bunt und ein kleines bisschen wahnsinnig. Seht selbst.
