I really want to hear your Misery Business remix rant now

LOL okok so let me start by saying do I have the current skill level needed to make a BETTER remix. no. I would LIKE to but there's a lot I need to learn first GKDKD. however I DO know music. so w that being said I can say that the composition of this remix [referring to the Kaivon one if unclear] is just? bad???

I don't listen to Paramore regularly, I had never heard Misery Business before, so after hearing the remix I literally had to go listen to the original just to make sure I was hearing things correctly. bc the thing is Kaivon adds literally nothing to the song other than slapping some sort of buffer effect onto the chorus to make it sound like That. there is no buildup to that effect in the pre-chorus, no added countermelodies for any sort of original flourish during the verses/bridge, literally NOTHING is added to the original song other than that effect. and the PROBLEM with that is this. first of all, the effect itself sounds bad w/o tweaking it a bit. it hurts the vocals; they sound all weird and choppy and almost don't quite line up w the beat, AND musically it's hard to follow the instruments when they keep bouncing back and forth like that. is it catchy as hell? YES. but only as a standalone thing.

the second issue is that there is no coherency tying the song together; there's nothing other than that goddamn chorus to say hey! this is a remix. and when you don't have unifying elements like that it just sounds weird, like some sort of unfinished project that accidentally got released. idk!! it just bugs me and I don't like how TikTok acts like it's the best shit ever GKFKDK like it's got catchiness goin for it but that's abt it
