oh. i’m in love with you. she stands in the doorway and feels somewhat giddy with it, gripping tightly onto the wall for balance. all the air in her lungs is suddenly helium. that’s what this is, she thinks again, i’m in love. she knew this already, of course. she just — never had the words to put to the emotion. how could anyone not love suletta mercury with every bone in their body?

in hindsight, she should have put the pieces together sooner. everyone else in this loop is static, unchanging, but cinder — cinder learns. and winter was too wrapped up in her own grief to notice. i'm never getting out of this time loop, she thinks. then, burning with the urge to do something, to fix something, she raises her sword. cinder’s smile turns predatory. “come here, darling,” she says, and lunges for her.

“... didn’t know they were this red.” suletta jumps a little. “hm?” for once, she doesn’t seem to mind the cluelessness. suletta watches her hand smooth over the rim of the pot she’s working with, willowy and pale. “the tomatoes. my mother talked about it, but i never think i understood.” there’s a warmth to her voice, and it catches suletta off guard. “does it make you feel closer to her?” she isn’t quite sure what inspired her to ask. miorine doesn’t seem to mind this, either.
