Some people choose a career. Others stumble into a calling.
For Felicity Clegg, South Africa’s pioneering Commercial Hot Air Balloon Pilot, the journey began with a hang-gliding school, a chance encounter with the “father of hot air ballooning” in South Africa, and the challenge of building her very first balloon in a workshop.
What started as a sport became a lifelong profession — blending adventure, craftsmanship, and teaching. Felicity has: 🌍 Flown commercially across South Africa and beyond 🏆 Participated in festivals and championships worldwide 🛠 Founded her own balloon maintenance workshop in 2000 🎓 Trained the next generation of balloon pilots 💡 Innovated in model ballooning alongside her son
She has carried thousands of passengers across ancient landscapes like the Magaliesberg Valley, turning sunrise flights into unforgettable celebrations of life.
