Mai kujaku (valentine) x Ishizu Ishtar?

MY LOOOOOOVES~ I’m such a sucker for Visionship, lemme tell you.

I was so disappointed they didn’t get much (any?) screen time together, because you can just tell that they’d come together so easily. Mai would be great with helping Isis learn to just go ahead and treat herself sometimes, obviously by treating Isis herself quite a bit. Shopping sprees, spa days, more than a few nice dinners... It probably would take Isis a bit to stop saying “N-no, I.. you really don’t have to....” But I doubt Mai would push, and she’d be so sincere and breezy about it (”I mean, it was my idea to do this right~?”) so Isis probably feels way more comfortable with it way faster than she’d have ever thought.

(Imagine those two stopping in at a Lush, Mai giving Isis The Tour and the two of them helping each other put on face masks nice and evenly. Doing it after a Wine Night was probably not the best idea but...)

Isis, meanwhile, is such a loyal person, a kind person, and so elegant... I feel like that’s exactly the kind of person Mai would enjoy as a permanent fixture in her life. Like, Isis is the person who would recommend meeting at a trendy little teahouse, or an art gallery, or an old film festival, and anywhere they are she’d be slowly coming out of her shell to talk about what she gets out of these things.

So they would just!!! Be such close friends!!! So quickly!!! Inseparable, honestly. And like I know Mai would be the one to catch feelings fairly early on (during something cute like watching Isis sing along to Diana Ross while making her one specialty in the kitchen), but also that she’d be very happy to just have her in her life as a friend. And probably be Super Chicken and not want to say something until she was sure.

Meanwhile Isis would probably be like ‘oh these feelings aren’t going away.... I should just ask her out I guess’ bc like... what’s the point of learning to be happy if she’s not gonna go for that happiness xD

Jounouchi/Malik, Malik/Shizuka, and Isis/Mai all belong to a small group of ships I really think are interesting in of themselves, but that have been ruined by my need to maintain two degrees of separation between Mai and Malik.

My headcanon somehow set on Mai never forgiving Malik or, indeed, wanting to ever see his face again - after that whole messed with her memories, simulated her getting eaten alive by bugs, psycho-physio-logical torture fiasco. And I’ll be damned before I insinuate she should suck it up for Jou’s, Shizuka’s, or Isis’s sake.

But, yeah, I also wouldn’t want to put Jounouchi or Shizuka or Isis in a position where they felt the need to choose between Malik and Mai. bc that would be sad. And not the good kind of sad - unavoidably tragic relationship deal-breaker kind of sad.

Basically I overthought things and ruined everything for myself in the process. Why??!!??
