Choose Wisely, Choose Camiguin!
The purpose of this postcard is to advertise the beauty of Camiguin. Although it is a small island located in Northern Mindanao, it has plenty of beautiful tourist spots that will surely astonish you. As a traveler who already went to this mesmerizing place, I highly suggest for you to go to these places:
(1) Katibawasan Falls
(2) White Island
(3) Old Spanish Church Ruins
(4) Sunken Cemetery
We weren’t able to swim in the Katibawasan Falls due to my grandmother being a worrywart but nevertheless, we respected her decision and decided to just take pictures instead. Of course the “adventurous” side of me was very much disappointed about not being able to enjoy the cold water but the view was so mesmerizing that my negative thoughts disappeared. You could see giant ferns decorating the land, like a blanket covering a child in his sleep. I am not really a fan of the color “green” but I guess my perspective changed at that time, all thanks to this place. If there’s one place I would revisit in a heartbeat, it would be the White Island. As soon as I stepped into this mesmerizing beach, I literally skipped like an elementary student witnessing a beautiful playground. Some of our family members were actually annoyed by the fact that I used my phone for almost half an hour just to take pictures instead of enjoying it. I was really in love with the white sand, I wouldn’t even deny it. Although I got tan because of the harsh sunlight, I could say it was all worth it. Another thing that surprised me was the fact that the “White Island” only shows itself during morning. As soon as dusk appears, the island vanishes too. Surprising, right? Another lovely place that we visited was the Old Spanish Church Ruins, it was indeed old yet beautiful. The type of art that you usually see in museums, the only difference is that it is three-dimensional. While walking through this open-spaced church, it felt as if I was visiting a museum the only difference was the space, it was very open that you could literally run all over the place if you’d like. If only the place didn’t hold the “show some respect” vibe, I would’ve done it. What astonished me the most was the fact that the bricks of these old walls were made up of shells and cement which I think is pretty cool. Another memorable place that we visited was the Sunken Cemetery. I also enjoyed it since there were lots of souvenir shops located there. The vendors there too were very approachable. Some of them actually volunteered to take pictures of us since we wanted to be complete in the family picture. The view was also breath-taking, especially the cross. I don’t know why but as soon as I saw it, it washed all my worries away leaving only optimistic thoughts. It somehow healed my longing soul. To sum everything up, I felt pure bliss during our short trip in Camiguin which is why if you’re planning on having a vacation, I highly recommend this place!
