The advantages & disadvantages of social media.Â
Choose Wisely, Choose Camiguin!
The purpose of this postcard is to advertise the beauty of Camiguin. Although it is a small island located in Northern Mindanao, it has plenty of beautiful tourist spots that will surely astonish you. As a traveler who already went to this mesmerizing place, I highly suggest for you to go to these places:
(1) Katibawasan Falls
(2) White Island
(3) Old Spanish Church Ruins
(4) Sunken Cemetery
We werenât able to swim in the Katibawasan Falls due to my grandmother being a worrywart but nevertheless, we respected her decision and decided to just take pictures instead. Of course the âadventurousâ side of me was very much disappointed about not being able to enjoy the cold water but the view was so mesmerizing that my negative thoughts disappeared. You could see giant ferns decorating the land, like a blanket covering a child in his sleep. I am not really a fan of the color âgreenâ but I guess my perspective changed at that time, all thanks to this place. If thereâs one place I would revisit in a heartbeat, it would be the White Island. As soon as I stepped into this mesmerizing beach, I literally skipped like an elementary student witnessing a beautiful playground. Some of our family members were actually annoyed by the fact that I used my phone for almost half an hour just to take pictures instead of enjoying it. I was really in love with the white sand, I wouldnât even deny it. Although I got tan because of the harsh sunlight, I could say it was all worth it. Another thing that surprised me was the fact that the âWhite Islandâ only shows itself during morning. As soon as dusk appears, the island vanishes too. Surprising, right? Another lovely place that we visited was the Old Spanish Church Ruins, it was indeed old yet beautiful. The type of art that you usually see in museums, the only difference is that it is three-dimensional. While walking through this open-spaced church, it felt as if I was visiting a museum the only difference was the space, it was very open that you could literally run all over the place if youâd like. If only the place didnât hold the âshow some respectâ vibe, I wouldâve done it. What astonished me the most was the fact that the bricks of these old walls were made up of shells and cement which I think is pretty cool. Another memorable place that we visited was the Sunken Cemetery. I also enjoyed it since there were lots of souvenir shops located there. The vendors there too were very approachable. Some of them actually volunteered to take pictures of us since we wanted to be complete in the family picture. The view was also breath-taking, especially the cross. I donât know why but as soon as I saw it, it washed all my worries away leaving only optimistic thoughts. It somehow healed my longing soul. To sum everything up, I felt pure bliss during our short trip in Camiguin which is why if youâre planning on having a vacation, I highly recommend this place!
BE LITERATE, BE RESPONSIBLE!
Nowadays, we receive and read a lot of news especially from the media. Some of us canât help but to react or express our own opinions, views, perspectives about it. Others use âsocial mediaâ as a tool to share information with people which is why the existence of fake news is inevitable. Therefore, one must be information literate in order to avoid being deceived by these âfalseâ pieces of information. As a citizen of a democratic country, one must always be aware of the words they express for it might reflect their image or background as a person. I, myself live in a democratic country which means I have âfreedom of speechâ. Therefore, I am allowed to state my opinions about certain matters and issues. Although I could freely say what I want, I should also be responsible for it.
Philippines is a democratic country, which is why as a citizen it is important to be aware of the government and the pieces of information that encompass it. We must be information literate, especially about the governmentâs authority so we wonât be deceived or be abused by it. It is also important to know its pros and cons for our own benefit and safety. As a citizen, it is our duty to know the different crisis our country is facing and ways how to resolve it, we must not fully rely on the government but we must also do our part. It is important to be literate since if you are, it would already be a huge help not only for you but also for the country. Living in the 21st century has its perks, one of it is that we could use âsocial mediaâ or âmediaâ as a tool to help share useful information that could help boost our countryâs economy. We can also use this tool to inform the government about the perspectives of the people about certain issues, so they would also be aware. In order to have a harmonious country or community, the government and the people must work hand-in-hand. This kind of community would only exist if we cooperate, abide the rules and use âmediaâ for a good cause, for our benefit.Â
Mass Communication is the exchanging of information on a large scale to a wide range of people. Media, on the other hand, is the main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet), regarded collectively. Thus, mass communication and media go hand-in-hand. We learn that life is constantly changing especially in terms of communication which is why there is an âevolutionâ of media. Now, let us take a look of how it started. Ladies and gentleman, please take note and be captivated by the beauty of evolution.Â
