En Torre del Mar se destaca la presencia del Museo del Azúcar, aún no terminado, y que hace homenaje a una célebre factoría propiedad de la familia Larios, que en su día fuera el motor económico del pueblo.

El museo se inaugurará antes de final de año 2012. Se ubica en el antiguo ingenio azucarero Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Torre del Mar. Será museo y centro de interpretación dedicado a la historia del cultivo de la caña de azúcar no sólo en Vélez-Málaga sino en toda la comarca de la Axarquía.
