#LiepUGraduate2021 - meet and greet Nabeel Munir from Pakistan!  He is one of the recent #LiepU graduates! Read his thoughts about study process, his mobilities abroad and more: Choosing Liepaja University and Liepāja city in general was a best decision I made and the reasons are following: 1) When I first came here, I was not sure if this is the place where I can work on my goals and achieve them. But, after coming to LiepU and studying here, I started to realize that I will have a lot of great opportunities here. 2) LiepU offers a great number of opportunities to students to work on their skills, for example, there are programming competitions held in LiepU where students can showcase their skills and win prizes and get in touch with professional companies. 3) Another great opportunity that Liepaja university offers is Erasmus scholarships. It is more like a mind opening and life changing opportunity. You can have a study semester or internship in a different university or a company in Europe, study in a new environment, learn about a different culture and learn from different people. 4) LiepU provides a great study environment in a peaceful city of Liepaja. You can go anywhere, on the beach, in the park with your book or laptop, enjoy the nature and study with it. 5) Teachers at LiepU are really motivating and helping the students to grow more and to learn more. They are always there to help. Even after the university hours, if you email or text them, they will answer your doubts. All you must do is to reach out to them and they are ready to help you out to get out of a situation that you think is not possible. Teachers are like: "Hey, don't you dare to give up!". I love and recommend #Liepaja for the following reasons: 1) It is a beautiful and small city. What's interesting about this city is that, despite being a small city, it has a lot of leisure activities to offer. 2) The city is peaceful and full of nature. 3) Despite being peaceful, I never felt insecure in Liepaja. It is a secure city. You can have a walk at night and no one will hurt you. With all that said, I loved my studies and my stay in Liepaja University and Liepaja respectively and would 100% recommend anyone who wishes to be here for studies or for travelling in general! Why Liepaja has a potential to become a student city?

We asked this question to Arminas, exchange student from the Lithuanian Business University of Applied Sciences in Klaipeda!

When I first came to LiepU, I immediately felt that warmth. Inside the university there's plenty of space to work and study, to take a break, to have fun. There's literally everything in this university that you'll ever need, advanced technologies, modern study programs etc. Staff and teachers are always happy to help, to explain and to talk. 

And the beach... The most amazing place in Liepaja, if you're tired of studying at home or university, you can always go to the beach and take a deep breath, the view is going to relax you immediately. 

Liepaja has wonderful restaurants with good food serving and the prices are affordable. If you are a gym guy or girl, Liepaja can offer you variety of different sports clubs. Liepaja is the city for calm and silent studies, come here to study and leave parties behind you, you won't regret it. 

LiepU is the perfect place to study, to find yourself and increase your knowledge and communication skills. Stop thinking, start doing!

Erasmus+ student Emma Charreire from Université de Lorraine, France came to Liepaja in the beginning of this year. This is what she's telling about her exchange semester:

"It was my better choice to choose Liepāja as my destination for my Erasmus semester! at first, for the great welcoming by LiepU Office and the professors of the different courses. And I got the chance to make my IT internship here at Liepāja, thanks to my professors here.

The University organized some events for internationals students, since the beginning to got the chance to meet each others, learn about their culture country, and have a good time!

I meet a lot of great people, several times a week we organized meetings at different places. Liepaja is a city with a lot of cafes, bars and cosy places! Everything is easily accessible by walking.

I'll never forget the friends that I meet here, this University and this lovely city ♥ Thank you Liepāja! "

"We received a warm welcome at LiepU and immediately we felt like home, even if we were miles away from ours. We miss its positive atmosphere, its good vibes, the comfortable feeling of being in the right place with the right people. Every person we met, we will never forget.

The professors, the staff of the international office, the Latvian and international classmates and friends, the staff of the cafè/canteen of the university. Everybody has given us unforgettable memories. We miss everything and you will be always in our hearts. Our Erasmus experience was marked by studying with smile, by enthusiasm in joining class and lots of surprises in each corner of the building. We hope we can come back there to start something new and find the same beauty we have left!"

Bruna Spezzaferro and Viktoriya Spadaro, Erasmus+ students from the University of Naples “L’Orientale” stayed at Liepaja for a short time, but it does not mean they both did not enjoyed their stay at Liepaja University!

Where to go for exercise in Liepãja?

Whenever you go to a new place you may want a place to do some exercise, to run, to swim, to play football or basketball or to practice some martial arts and boxing... and in this post i will be talking about some good places in the city of Liepãja to go.

Lets start with the outdoor places, like if you want to do some runnings or enhance your skills in football, basketball or tennis, there are this special courts that you can use near the seaside park and the Daugavas Stadions, where you have athletics track, and a small court for 4v4 or 3v3 games with your friends, and also de Kristaps Porziņģis family foundation basketball court.

But... its winter, negative temperatures and you don´t want to go outside and do exercises because you may freeze, don´t worry about it, you have the  Liepāja Olympic Centre,  The Olympic Centre with a total area of 18 000 square metres combines premises of various use. On the five floors of the main building there are halls for basketball, volleyball, floorball, table tennis, boxing, judo, Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling.  The Olympic Centre is one of the most modern and multifunctional sports and cultural complexes in Latvia, the Baltics and possibly in Europe, offering recreational opportunities for different tastes.

If you´re a swimmer the centre can provide you with good swimming pools, the  Pool & SPA complex is the biggest and most modern pool at the SPA centre in Kurzeme region. The complex includes different types of water attractions for children, as well as recreation and relaxation opportunities for adults.  The large swimming pool can be used for enjoying swimming as sports or as means of relaxation, the 25 m long 6-lane pool is equipped with underwater lights. Swimming pool depth: 1.40 m to 2.10 m.

TOP 6 Favorite Places at Liepaja - suggested by Adrianna from Poland

Before arrival I was looking for worth visiting places in Liepaja on the Internet in order to make full use of my first time being abroad. I have found a lot of information about most visiting places. The ones which impressed me the most were: the main building of Liepaja University, the beach, Karosta, BB Wakepark, the Birdwatch Tower and the Square of Roses where two of the emblems which symbolize partnership between Liepaja and two Polish cities: my hometown, Elbląg, and Gdynia. The weather in the city shook me a little, even though it is really similar to Polish, it is windy almost 24/7. But, it could be a good alternative for a hairdryer. :) The fact that I could walk on the sand dunes was also something new for me (it is forbidden in Poland). All above-mentioned places, churches and Liepaja's architecture are unquestionably worth seeing. Besides, visiting beach almost every day is what I'll definitely miss.
