Even vintage gowns that look pretty good need love… it’s like a car with a rusted frame! The thread on anything from this era is usually a bit dry rotted. 😳. Something you don’t see right away, but the potential for a blow out is real. A restoration involves taking apart the garment to resew all seams, correcting any fit issues, proper cleaning of stains (stains are the hallmark of the prestige of wearing a vintage gown!) reinforcing or replacing the armpits, as most of them are damaged from old perspiration. the pressing alone breathes life back in, but it really can only@be done when complete as to not stresss the fibers any more. It’s a special passion, making old new again, and also giving a gown another opportunity to be worn by the next generation. #restoration #oldisnew #vitagegown #vintagerestoration #restorationandpreservation https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch2iZeFJHM4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
