SAT. 23 - #NINJA

This quote warms my heart like no other. In this scene Viktor truly admits that he wants to not only stay on as Yuuri’s coach, but to stay by his side. At that moment they were able to stay together as coach and skater, but people wanted Viktor back out in the rink competitively. If being Yuuri’s coach was the best way to stay with him, that’s what Viktor would want to do, and that’s why he hopes to stay on as his coach for as long as possible - to stay close to him.

Here’s the 5th speedpaint. Also, you should really go to the video for the song I use and turn on the English captions. I was sketching this piece out when I heard it at the ending credits for the Polygon series “Car Boys”. When I heard it I felt like it had this soft, hopeful, and melancholic vibe to it that felt fitting with my drawing. Then I saw the lyrics and teared up. I feel like the lyrics apply to both Yuuri and Viktor, these things being what they would want to say to one another. It’s a wonderfully beautiful song. <3

THU 21st - LIVING LEGEND

pictured: the legendary beauty that slays all who lay eyes upon it

lol for real tho it’s a cool title, but it took a damn lot of work. in addition to training victor does his programs from the ground up, doing the choreography and commissioning the music. aside from being an athlete, he sells his own brand. skating is not cheap; victor capitalizing on himself neatly explains why he has money to burn and is a household name. which is even more work. calling him a Living Legend is utterly deserved.

tbh with all that it’s no wonder he burnt out, working 20 years straight. but after a year off he’s back, recharged, with yuuri’s love and support, ready to take on the world!

TUES. 19 - HEART

So I only just watched Yuri on Ice for the first time about a week ago. I avoided the series because of the hype and the fans if I’m being completely honest, and I regret it. Not only is this show beautiful, heartwarming, inspiring, and all around wonderful, it made me really care what happened to these characters.

And one of those characters was Viktor Nikiforov.

He’s beauty, he’s grace, and he almost always has a smile on his face. No matter who he’s speaking to he seems to smile a lot. Viktor radiates a warmth that is like no other in the series, and he’s got so much to give. Not to mention his heart mouth is the cutest.

SUN. 24 - LOVE

I’m sorry, the holidays killed me, so this is very, very late.

So, my heart nearly exploded when Yuuri bought them both wedding rings. The scene where they put them on for each other? Yeah, I squealed and couldn’t stop smiling. It was such a beautiful, pure, loving moment. Another moment that had me happily gasping was when they both kissed their rings before Yuuri skated his Eros routine. Like, their love is so wonderful. It developed over a long while [I’m not going to spoil anything, if you already know, you definitely know what I’m talking about], and it feels natural. I feel that Yuuri lit a fire inside Viktor from that video of him skating his “Stay Close to Me” routine, and ever since it’s grown to a roaring flame. <3

Also there’s no speedpaint for this because my computer lost its mind and decided to shut off while I had it on sleep mode, so yeah. :’^)

WED. 20 - YOUTH

So I’m not entirely sure how Viktor was when he was just a tiny boy, but I have my own headcanon that he was shy in his much younger years. Maybe some sort of event changed him for the better and really opened him up to the social butterfly and happy man that he is today. Also I really wanted to see him wear a hat like this in the series but it never happened. One day...

TUE 19th - HEART

there’s so much to talk about on this topic!! vitya’s heart is one of the most incredible things about him, a gorgeous fascinating mass of complexities and sensitivities and mysteries, so big and soft and overflowing but also quite obscured. it’s hard to focus enough to keep this brief ahsadkhakshhjljkl

but ok!! one thing i love is how, upon reaching the top, vitya’s instinct has always been to lift others up instead of keeping them down.

it’s definitely one of the reasons he takes to coaching imo -- the seed, an urge to see others grow and help them get there, has always been in the depths of that heart.

FRI. 22 - FASHION

“Looking good and feeling fine~” Any time I see the word “fashion” in all caps I think of that Lady Gaga song. Anyway, Viktor’s fashion sense is pretty great. He likes wearing simple things when he’s hanging out or running about. His style is very comfy, and even when he dresses up he wears it so well. Like, seeing him in a suit when he debuted as coach was just so nice. And his outfits on the ice are even more wonderful, each having a theme and paired perfectly with his program and the song. The outfit here is one I designed myself for a younger version of an OC of mine. When my OC skated in this outfit, he was 16, and his parents were very controlling in terms of what he did and how he looked on the ice. They didn’t want him to be too flashy or flamboyant, so they would only let him wear minimalist outfits like this. I drew Viktor in it, along with the hairstyle my OC would have, because I haven’t really gotten the chance to draw my OC in it yet and wanted to show a finalized design. I think he wears it well ~

WED 20th - YOUTH

yakov’s flashback. was this when he’d first felt that spark of untold potential vitya? i love this shot, just a boy practicing in an empty rink but the afternoon light is beautiful, almost ethereal, and there’s a knowing glint in his smile. he gonna bring the world to its knees. there’s so much left unsaid about victor’s journey, how he became the man he is today, but enough tantalizing hints to send fans spinning and god just look at this fey prince of a boy, seriously
