The carnival was not quite as crowded as it had been during the day, Fleur imagined, now that it was nighttime and it allowed for everyone to come out from the shadows. There were always going to be humans inevitably rightened by the presence of the undead in this town, even with the large floats from each bloodline and some of the other creatures in town celebrating. Let them hide. She would not. She had always been open in what she was and at least Ashbourne allowed for that much. There were plenty of things that she could complain about when it came to the town but that was not one of them.
“This is certainly nothing like the Nice festival. Ah, oh well...” Not that she had any idea what it had been like in the past two hundred years. Undoubtedly, it had changed. “What is the point, a woman flashing her breasts for a string of beads from a man? I much rather take off a man’s head and take all of his beads to wear for myself.”
