after so much time, vincent should have learned. he should have learned that telling mia not to do something was utterly futile. a fruitless endeavour that only ended in vincent wasting his energy and mia eventually getting her will, whether or not it was vincent approved. today was no different. on this particular evening, the july air was kind enough to carry a breeze across the sleepy town that was st. clementine. vincent had found himself roasting the entire day in his uncle’s garage, hands black and slick with oil, knees red despite the protective work clothes, another day for his calloused hands to become even rougher. mia decided to pay none of these factors any attention when she came to pick him up from work ( more like him just driving her around ), begging him to take a shower and go to the beach with her. at the end of the discussion, vincent posed as the loser and mia rose to victory once more. it was beyond him why he couldn't refuse her - maybe it was obvious to everyone else. "if you fall asleep, i will push you out of the car and drive away," were his words when they had gotten in the car for the ride back home and to exactly no one's surprise, mia dozed off shortly after. he turned down the radio volume not to disturb her, despite his previous threat. soon after, his car came to a halt as he parked in front of mia's place. the engine took its well-deserved break as he turned the keys and leaned back in his seat, his eyes on mia. "hey ...," he mumbled, gently poking her side. "you're really gonna do this?" / / @vivcldi
