The time clock at Madison Square Garden read 3:52 in the first period when Kevin first looked up and saw Vivian seated among other fans in the crowd. Admittedly, he had to do a double take. He knew she was getting in from LA that night, but he had by no means expected her to show up to his game. Smiling and shaking his head, he couldn’t help but feel incredibly lucky to have her. The fact that after a seven hour flight across the country, the first thing she wanted to do was come see him play... well, that meant a lot.
The rest of the game, Kevin had to admit, he felt especially light on his feet, like something was just clicking for him. He tallied two assists and even a goal towards the middle of the third. Nothing felt better than scoring and looking up to see his girlfriend losing her mind, cheering and clapping along with the rest of the crowd.
As the clock ticked down to zero, Kevin felt euphoric as he exited the ice and made his way back to the locker room. Loud chants of ‘woos’ echoed within it as he quickly changed out of his gear and granted a few interviews. That’s when he saw Viv sneaking her way in, and he immediately took off for the front door, picking her up and swinging her around. “What are you doing here?” he exclaimed, leaning in for a kiss. “Thanks for coming, good luck charm.”
