Okay, Demon!Lilytale ‘verse-

-you stumble across an old tome. Maybe it’s in the attic of a house you start renting, maybe it’s in the back of a local used bookstore; the origin seems hardly of importance once you find it. It’s well worn, but lovingly upkept; the leather is smooth with careful but obvious use, not a speck of dust on it, and there’s the fascinating glimmer of what you’d hazard are a few ancient rough-hewn crystals inlaid in the cover amongst impossible-to-interpret, almost shifting illustrations. You could swear they glowed and shimmered at the edges of your vision - but as soon as you looked at them straight on, the effect was nowhere to be seen...

... how couldn’t you crack it open?

A whole evening later, and you know this is some sort of ancient magical tome - or, it certainly looked like that. And let’s be real, the kinda person you are, stumbling upon this old thing, taking it with you, perusing it despite the hair on the back of your neck lifting as something a little more energetic than mere air seemed to surround it...

Of course you decided to try out the most interesting and well-illustrated one.

What proceeds to happen is a dozen magical demonic skeletons are summoned in a stunning array of runic portals around you and the flickering candles you’d scrounged up- and every single one of them is looking to try to get you to make a soul contract with them.

Serif is a demon specializing in languid delights and inspiration in scholarship; Vellum is a demon specializing in energetic pursuits and adventures of all kinds.

Sapphire is a demon specializing in curiousity and thrills; Amber is a demon specializing in the arts and muses.

Crimson is a demon specializing in barters and carnal delights; Scarlet is a demon specializing in strategic skill and storytelling.

Pepper is a demon specializing in martial skills and mysteries; Cinnamon is a demon specializing in procuring one’s tangential desires and silvertongue skills.

Blade is a demon specializing in protection, karma, and building; Twist is a demon specializing in stealth, listening, and fantasy.

Alpha is a demon specializing in tech and vengeance; Glyph is a demon specializing in music and deception.

I wonder which one might convince you the most? They’ll certainly give it their all in their own ways to convince you after all... and all it costs is your soul in exchange for their eternal possession. ♡

But don’t fret... a demon treasures a soul to it’s very fullest extent ;)c

( Grim has been drinking and is now tipsy. )

* okay, okay, lemme try again. i’ll - pff - concentrate this time.

( ... Nearly 20 minutes pass, but he still takes a sip of his drink now and then, slowly draining it. He also laughs a few times part way through, but he finally finishes and shows you. )

* yeah, alright, there ya go, sweetpea. not my best work, but it’s not like i see ‘em fully garbed and together all the time, heh.

* all their stuff is Void-made materials, with the exception of the cloaks which have fur i’ve sent in from reality. ‘s’a mark of honor ‘n all that jazz - marks you as bein a fully fledged member of the Void Guard to have a ring of it ‘round your collar, symbolizin’ their origins ‘n hopes to protect the connected realities while focusin’ on our people. only the leaders - these three - have the full extended collars of fur.

* also, these three can all use Void magic extremely adeptly - a rare thing, actually, most our people can only slightly manipulate a very concentrated and focused area of it, at best - which is part of why they stepped up to head it. they also use their own weapons though, outta necessity... Paps uses a sword, Grillbz’ a warhammer, ‘n ‘Dyne’s all about spears.

Grillby’s smile lifts as he chuckles at your line, his gaze lingering over the warm flush to your cheeks. He straightens from leaning towards you, his arm crossing over his chest to hold his elbow as his finger lifts to his chin.

“Well my dear, I suppose that might be a sweet accusation I cannot wholly deny,” he replies, his gaze off to the side for a moment before it flickers back to you. “After all, even for someone who spends most his days on his feet, I find my legs feeling a measure more tired tonight...”

His gaze lids slightly as he winks at you. “Surely, that must be because I followed you through the dreamscape, hoping for just a moment longer in your bewitching presence.”
