Kitay is now my all time favourite fantasy book character
you are presented with 2 copies of the same book
the first copy is in tip top condition. a little yellowed, hinting at age, but other than that, there is barely even a crease in the spine. there are no marks, and the owner says that they always keep their books in a book bag when carrying them around.
the second book is battered. absolutely wrecked. it is yellowed, the spine has multiple creases, and there are scriblings in pencil all over every single page, the thoughts of the owner entwined magically with the book forever. there are a few highlighted bits and bookmarked pages.
reblog if the second one is the one that you consider to be a well-loved book :) i just want to see smtg
btw check my tags before saying anything
"my hobby is buying books and not actually reading them!"
....
i hate that books have been reduced to an aesthetic and not a beloved tool for knowledge and escapism...
"the secret to writing the perfect romance is to make them unable to live without the other person"
"the secret to writing the perfect romance is to make one fall first and the other fall harder"
wrong. the secret to writing the perfect romance is to establish them as individual characters first, with their own personal aspirations and fears, before introducing them to eachother so the characters can fall for characters that were actually written to be characters instead of shallowly written to play a part in a romance story.
i will always prefer paper over digital books but sometimes it's actually so inconvenient bc tell me why i'm bending the book a million different ways just to take a picture of the page without getting a shadow in the way 😭😭
btw meet the books that have earned their place at my desk
GUYS RED RISING IS PEAK SCIENCE FICTION AGSBDJSBDDJ im on the golden son (the second book. its a trilogy) btw and i want to shred this book into pieces because of the emotional damage and brilliance
sigh
ive been reading it really slowly though because im up to my neck deep in assessment preparation 😭😭
does red rising have a fandom i wonder? i better hurry up and finish the trilogy so i can look at art 🙏
There are 2 types of The Secret History fans. There are the people who quote Henry's distribution of matter, and then there are the people who quote Francis' Cubitum Eamus.
