Fancy lad Manchineel, one of my pearl cerdae. Lore under the cut. He's one of the first dragons I'm writing for and it's been really fun.

Named after the Manchineel tree, also known as poison guava. It is one of the few sources of the alkaloid Physostigmine, the cure for Belladonna poisoning.

Manchineel developed an auto immune disorder in his youth which claimed his back legs. Being as toxic as he is, and frail as he was, unable to keep up with his siblings, he was raised in solitude. It is well known that pearl cerdae who have made a pact are immune to poison, but hatchlings must produce their pearl before they can form a pact. Manchineel's frailness prevented him from producing a pearl long enough for the sickness to take hold. By the time he was ready to form a pact, his back legs were rendered numb and immobile. The legs were amputated and custom prosthetics were fitted. He takes things slow since his legs aren't as agile as the rest of the herds'.

The time he spent interacting with healers left a great impression on him. Determined to help others, as they had helped him, he pursued medicine, yet he didn't expect to need these skills so soon. News of his predicament had travelled around amongst the cerdae and a new couple of parents sought his help in aiding their hatchling's recovery. Belladonna, a young cerdae, looked just as frail as he once did. Manchineel spent all hours of the day tending to her. He'd make sure she gathered enough strength to produce a pearl before her body sustained long term injuries.

After she had succesfully formed her pact, she'd follow him around like a mirrorlet, eager to learn and to help. To be continued~

Started this doodle during maintenance before Thundercrack Carnivale and it's finally done! Heavily reffed a kitten picture for this since it's personal art Itan bottle time!! :D The hand holding the bottle belongs to Wanderer, his caregiver. Dragon images under the cut

They live in Churnscar Wharf where Wanderer works for a shopkeeper (longneck mender). He protects caravans delivering goods to the store, and makes enchanted toys in his free time. Itan has a Wicker Dragon as a familiar, which was made by Wanderer according to their lore. (lore is still a slow work in progress)

Silas lore installment one! Follow up to the who-to-lore poll :D

This first bit is slow and doesn't reveal much info about the group dynamic or history, which is written to fit their personality. He takes things slow, no rush, no fuss, slow ambling and rambling about this and that. I may reveal more about the groups past through lore from the other dragons' perspectives.

First installment; a summer day

Silas lay lazily in the summer sun scrawling cursive onto a dry piece of parchment as they so often did. He gently rubbed the corner of the parchment between his scaly fingers, a thoughtful expression on his face.

The familiar rattle of beads drew his attention away from his letter, Hawaii emerged from the den and Silas grinned warmly. "Well hello, how nice it is of you to join us." Hawaii returned the greeting with a slow nod and settled down beside him, still blinking the sleep from her eyes. "Writing to Cicero again?" She asked fondly.

"Indeed, indeed," he crooned. "Flax is in better health these days, told ya all the little sweetheart needed was some extra calcium and he'd perk right back up," Silas went on, referring to Cicero's corn snake. Each of them had one from the same clutch, which Silas had raised up from hatchlings some years ago.

Their bond was thicker than molasses and just as sweet he mused. Maybe he'd request Cicero visit again soon? Phrased as an invitation of course! Silas chuckled to themselves which gently stirred the animals that were resting on his limbs. Millet poked her head up, flicking her tongue drowsily before curling up tighter on Silas' shoulder, head buried beneath her coiled body.

Silas continued scrawling long cursive sentences with leisurely movements as Hawaii drifted back to sleep beside him. It was a wonderful morning, the ideal weather for a nap. Maybe he'd join them in a bit.

Adopted and dressed a little cosmic horror today! This bird beast is contained by Ethereal, the lairs resident space cowboy. (They currently have gold claws and I'll have to wait till next NoTN to get them a pair of sinister gloves which color the claws silver.) Thing goes by any pronouns. It communicates through chirps, although it and Ethereal don't understand each others languages, they will learn to communicate a little over time. Ethereal will pick up on certain chirps and trills that mean different things, as well as movements and gestures. Thing is a super curious fella and will discover that cuddles are awesome once the two trust each other :3c They're just a big puppybird creature and make a great companion for Ethereal who needs to be reminded to take breaks and get food and rest.

Alright that's it I keep mixing up the Fae F and M poses, so I've decided to patch that up through ✨ l o r e ✨ Gender expression doesn't play much of a role amongst Fae in my clan. They go by any pronouns and change up their preffered ones every now and then. Some have a strong preference towards specific pronouns, but most don't mind calling them whatever. Their assigned gender at hatching (agah) only plays a consistent role in the context of being able to nest, and the bonded dragons gender expression may differ from their agah. May loosely apply this to spirals as well cuz I mix them up somewhat regularly too.

Pirate crew!

Poseidon the captain Ramune the swashbuckler - she has a gay pirate gf with matching wind primal Samus the first mate and navigator - transfem Rotgut the cannoneer Mahal the ???

Queer skydancers hecc yeah!!! Rotgut and Mahal were both adopted by the crew as hatchlings Mahal was added to the crew just a day ago, so I haven't got that many ideas for him yet. During storms he becomes a kirin.

Impulse bought a fodder hatchy yesterday, which I justified in celebration of changing flights, which led to establishing the archeologist group and their roles

Also finally got started on some writing for Silas, decided they're roomies with Hawaii

Decided to write a bit today! Gathered up a group of dragons who all lived in some vague forest and decided they're a little community living in the Everbloom Gardens now. Named the area Cloverstead, a pun on covenstead since one of them is a witch. Also decided on Wanderlust as a name for my clan, which may change later if I find smth I like better. I really gotta rework the opening lines now that I got the relations into place. I want to describe the area better, his occupation, and personal relations to the different dragons in more detail, eventually.
