Talk to me, Violet
What's going on?
this isn't you
I want to help
Let me help.
And then, hours later:
please
...Well, ultimately? It wasn't that big a deal, Violet told himself. He tapped the button, erasing the messages.
It wasn't that big a deal, he told himself, when the messages kept coming. Some days, there were several. Some days, none.
Really not a big deal at all, he chided himself when he woke up at five am curled into a ball, cheeks wet, phone blinking.
i hate yuo
your a fcukign arse I hope youre hpapy
I coildve done somthing maybe you ddidnt tell me!
Another message showed up, while he was reading.
i miss you
Violet deleted that one on sight and curled up tighter.
It didn't matter. That was the mantra that fueled his facade, nowadays.
It didn't matter anymore.
date a girl who's terrifying at first glance. date a girl who shines so brightly it hurts to look at her. date a girl who dropped from the sky like a meteor, or perhaps like an anguished phoenix, shedding feathers and fire and free-falling. date a girl who fell from heaven.
date a girl with no concept of anything. date a girl who never quite understands human customs. date a girl who looks uncomfortable wearing anything but pristine clothes in light colors. date a girl who's never had to eat, or write, or breathe. date a girl who's overjoyed by cake and sunsets. date a girl who sometimes, in times of great joy or anguish, appears shrouded in a miasma of flame. date a girl who's never quite gotten over her past mistakes. date a girl who doesn't understand what went wrong. date a girl whose eyes are sparks of flame, scary and beautiful and warm all at once, even as a human. date a girl with scars on her back where her wings burnt off, scars that glow when you trace their outlines with a finger. date a girl whose hands are silk, whose laughter is a chorus of bells, whose smile is a miracle unto itself. date a girl you'd do anything for. date a girl you've fallen in love with. date a girl who would outwit the devil himself if it meant winning your safety. date a girl who would give up her only chance at returning home for you. date a girl who would fold herself up into flesh and bone for you. date a girl who would lay down her brilliant sword, sacrifice a seraphim's life carving demons to live another sixty or seventy spins of the planet with you.
Here’s a fairy tale adaptation of the grillmess characters! Have fun. Last time, on the Thundere Train: Exposition This week, on the Thundere Train: Something Happens

A little bit of Lilac/Rose interaction, and the first part of Against my Better Judgement. It’s kind of short, but this seemed like a natural break.
It was near the end of a fairly quiet day, when he first walked in. Lilac’s attention shifted from a conversation in the corner to the towering pink fire elemental. He’d been wondering when they were going to show up.
They wore a confident smile, walking straight towards him. Somehow, this sense of purpose alone unnerved Lilac. They were here to see him, there was no doubt, and given what little he knew about this elemental, that could not be good.
The rumors were vague, but pervasive. Judging from the looks the pink elemental drew from his patrons, they’d heard of him too. Apparently, he was friendly enough, but there were very few people who actually knew him well. Those that did were always strangely quiet about it.
Far less information to go on than Lilac was used to having. It’d be best to stay especially cautious. Play this by ear. He hated having to do that.
They reached the bar and placed an order. Lilac barely registered the words, soaking up every detail he could about the other elemental’s posture, inflection, and expression. Nothing seemed to break the amiable demeanor, and yet, something didn’t sit right with him.
He nodded and prepared the drink. Huh. Just straight vodka. What did that say about their character?
Lilac busied himself with trivial tasks as he discreetly observed the pink elemental, unable to shake the feeling of wrongness. Most of the rest of his customers did the same, finishing their business and waiting to see what the pink elemental would do.
“Hey, why not join me for a drink?”
Lilac frowned slightly. He’d never seen fit to build up a tolerance to alcohol, so even if it meant learning more about the other elemental, he’d have to decline. “That’s alright, thank you.”
“Come on. It’s pretty close to closing anyway, and I can’t imagine you have much to do.”
“I’ll leave it to the customers.” If they wanted to talk to him about acquiring some sort of information, they would wait until closing. And indeed, his suspicions were confirmed as they continued to nurse their drink until after hours.
Lilac cleaned the tables and closed the curtains, never leaving his back turned., before returning to his place behind the bar.
“Well, you’re less chatty than I expected.”
Lilac tinged his voice with exhaustion. “It’s been a long day, I guess. Something you need?”
The pink elemental smiled wider. “Yes, actually. I’m Roseby.” They offered their hand, and Lilac shook it.
“You can call me Lilac. Pleased to meet you.” He didn’t comment on the overly tight grip.
“My, so serious. I’ll get right to it, then. I’ve heard you’re the go to monster for getting information, and I think we can work out a mutually beneficial arrangement.”
