Viridescent Jade Glaucous
Mannerisms/Appearance: Energetic, with wings that sprout from her back and fold back to almost be concealable behind her frame, Jade’s pixie cut and lithe acrobatic posture mix well with her personality. Although she is not personally one with the fae, she wouldn’t argue that the ability to hide wings entirely naturally would come in handy at times. This aside, she finds the time to dye her hair occasionally, most recently being purple-tipped from various shades of blue with a slight hint of pink at the rear. Her eyebrows are the one other area that has a pink dye to it still, and are generally well-maintained: those that aren’t pink are either unnoticeable or gone. Her wings are blue primarily with green tips, and sometimes she considers dying them as well but stops short of it to keep from risking her flight. Her eyes are a gold color with slightly pale irises, and the occasional clear beadiness of a bird. Her face could hold the intensity of a bird of prey or the energy of a smaller bird within the space of a few moments, because it was a human’s and not a bird’s, so duh. Her skin is a slight tan shade darker than caucasian, with slightly olive hints, and there is a dash of freckles on the girl’s face. Her nose is sharp, with a slight turn upwards that is barely noticeable when she’s looking downwards. Her teeth, in good condition, have a nice white to them despite the occasional forgetfulness of toothbrushies, and have the appropriate sharpness for anything from tearing to gnashing. Her nails are actually sharpened to a point in their natural state, but she has cherished hand-specific claws (jewelry, weaponizable) for the purpose of going after true targets.

Born from a hummingbird harpy and fathered by a lory, Viri’s life began in the mountains of California, where she and her family would have been content to stay if food were just a little more accessible. Soon enough, they had become city birds instead, but to be fair, it was only two of them that were left: the lory harpy skipped out, early enough in Jade’s life for her to not even have memorized his name. Hummingbird wings, you may have noticed, are slightly easier to conceal than those of a lory, but unfortunately for Viri, she inherited more wing from her dad than from her mum, which left her still able to hover and take off like a hummingbird if the need arose, but more comfortable taking off like a lory might and then gliding. Her mother taught her the art of concealing wings to go out in public, primarily so by using flashy dresses that would go right with them, but later also by way of cloaking: causing the wings to disappear entirely for a certain amount of time. It took concentration and visualization, but by way of brain patterns, trackers in the base bone of the wing would activate and seal them from view, but not always necessarily from touch. It was convenient to live like this for the first few years, as the wings hadn’t fully developed, much like young Viridescent’s body. In this way, she was able to occasionally get to go to school, but it was with the advent of technology she blossomed—online homeschooling. No need to conceal her wings when she just needed to log on to a laptop to complete school assignments. There was no big understanding why she should keep the wings hidden, either.. until, at least, she slipped in the instituted school and got called names by some people.
Of course, that didn’t change much when she was growing up, she still met and had friends, what few she could keep, and even met a few more harpies after moving north from Cali. Elem friends included Ionett, future pilot; Rain, parent-proclaimed prodigy who hardly exceeded normality and later became a promotor and actor; and an unfortunate named Hope who saw demons and died when convinced she could sail on others’ coattails without a flightsuit. Once she reached her teen years in Canada’s French-est province of Quebec, she had a majority of the second language down perfectly with a slight proficiency in Latin as well. By this time she had made friends with Dive through the connection that both enjoyed skating and Fanus over an internet forum expressing interest in the hunter.net domain. She was just starting a relationship with Dirk when going through her scene/gothic phase, although the closest she got was loligoth out of habits for frilly things. When prompted by Dr Fitch, she expressed her interest in hunter.net, which he gave a ‘sound’ recommendation towards in his own way. She registered and watched her heels for the monsters that she knew lurked the streets, claw heirlooms taking the place of primary close-up weapon while her proficiency in rifles and swords climbed due to occasional visits from Rain, whose parents apparently had the money for that. It would only be later that Viri guessed that Rain had red feelings for her.
Jumping into adulthood, Viri met the last of the friends she would keep for a lengthy time: Angeline Agliet, an eagle harpy with large potential which simply doubted herself far too much. Her guardian was a scaled-wing harpy who taught the eagle about the need for protection and weaponization of wing areas. She was the first harpy Viri knew to use overlapping wing plates, but she couldn’t use them nearly as well as the guardian that trained her, so she claimed. Viri took advantage of her ability to fly to get brilliant angles in photographs, primarily where she could blend easily enough. Sometimes she was contracted for them, but a lot of the time she simply made them available as prints. She made enough to get by without having to theive as much, typically only taking things people ordinarily wouldn’t miss.
Key childrenhood/etc friends:
Human-
Fanus “Si” Snate: techie with a few missing parts
Ionett Liin: bit of love for aviation, jealous of Viri’s wings; crippled in one situation that drew Viri closer to huntress status
Rain Wrathi: child of two multifandoms with a small obsession with names of “greatness” like Rain; especially trained for fencing, regular swordfighting, parkour, and mental defense.
Harpy-
Dive Forrest: snow dove that shared in the skiing obsession
Dirk Skiies: one time boyfriend, bat/owl crossbreed with overly gothic tendencies
Angeline Agliet: eagle with aspirations for greatness that simply thinks much too low of herself to reach them
Other-
[Unknown - Shapeshifter, Puppetmaster, and/or Eldritch Abomination personified] (Dr. Flitch, Sam Pruppett, Ubanis/Bane Urban-reversible) : More recently watching the city by way of bird familiars, the shapeshifter (and his dupes (“extras”)) made friends with Viri at a younger age to watch and spy on her, before later taking on the role as a child physician. He seems to have some idea of a plan, but at the same time it isn’t quite identifiable whether he plans to join in or simply spectate. It is implicitly suggested that he guided Jade towards becoming a Huntress.
[OOC/DM info: Race is identifiable as Incubator-ruler, the race that programmed incubators to look for a way of stopping entropy with a source of infinite energy. While primarily passive, when actively plotting others’ harm by way of his present body, he can be quite strong. He would prefer, however, to simply let the attacker destroy his body and travel immediately to his next extra. He has an innumerable number of them, but would make comments on the uselessness of wasting them.]
