After a pretty progressive week in technique classes, I tanked it in today's ballet class...culminating in a failed grand allegro. It really was that bad for me!
First, I went to class super tired after not getting proper sleep the entire week because of too many family and work distractions.
Second, because I felt so out of it I wasn't warming up properly for me and in class today I felt like I just couldn't remember any of the combinations (especially transitions, which I have to work hard on regardless).
I know these days happen to the best of us, but I feel need to constantly show my improvement each day to keep my teachers interested in me. Why so much pressure? Because I'm the new girl, I'm still in recovery and I really want a good solo in the Nutcracker. They use class to select the castings and the major lead roles are being rehearsed already.
So here's the combination:
-Preparation-temp lie en arriere
-Saute faille, contretemps 2x
-Cabriole derriere faille, contretemps
-Cabriole derriere, chasse en arriere finishing in low developpe quase devant
-Chasse en avant to assemble battu
-Tour coupe en de hors, finish coupe devant
-Pique first arabesque with right leg and hold
-Step derriere left to tombe, coupe, saute moving stage right
-Step, step, grand assemble en tournant with arms en haut
-Tombe coupe to grand renverse with arm en bas to en haut moving en dedans
-Pas couru to jete entrelace (grand jete dessus en tournant/grand jete en tournant en arriere)
-Coupe detourne, tombe pas de bourree, saut de chat (grand jete developpe)
This has become our "homework" to be presented again in Tuesday's technique class. Luckily, I got on it right away and have gone through it over and over since I left the studio this afternoon. Tuesday will be the day! I'll need to lead up to it by having a much better series of classes Monday night and resting up the rest of the weekend ;)
Let's stay en Pointe and defy gravity :)
