“You’re brooding again,” the kid beside him states, looking up from the device that’s carefully picking apart muscle and flesh, “I told you about brooding on my table.”
“I’m not– I’m not brooding, I’m thinking.” The retort is weak, but it’s better than lying down and taking it. Quackity purses his lips and looks away from Tubbo’s smug fucking eyes.
“You’re brooding. You got the look, boss, the look in your eyes when you’re thinking about edgy things. What’s getting under your skin, eh? Come on, you know I got doc-patient confidentiality going.” Tubbo tilts his head, tapping the circular device.
“You didn’t even make me sign a contract, how can I trust you?” A rhetorical question, both of them knew Alex would fess up quick. “Just thinking about cybernetics, ‘s all. Stupid shit, really. Gotta wonder how human you are when you’re mostly metal.”
“I mean, are bots human? We’re human ‘cuz we think. Bots don’t think, I think.” Tapping his head, Toby offers a lopsided grin. “Still got your brain, though, and your heart. Metaphorically, some people don’t got that. They aren’t lucky enough. But, hey, you’re getting a neat new tool. Maybe it’ll pay off, or your money back. Don’t take that shit to heart, you aren’t getting your eddies back.”
lord my god all that is holy she is born she is real
my lovechild, rebels anthology, now has its first part! it did not take me several months and i did not overshoot my initial wordcount. writing such a large fic has given me a much better understanding of who i am as a person and the amount of words i can actually spit out in any given moment. sure, i can crack out 20k in a week, but i sure as hell wont be able to do that every week without actually falling over and dying
this fic was written for the @mcytblraufest! i am so sorry for being local problem child writer
huge huge shoutouts to neptune (ao3 + tumblr) and to cryingtulips (ao3 + tumblr). neptune you got me literally one of the coolest artworks possible for this fic like an actual movie trailer? oh my god i keep thinking about it. and wil you caught so many mistakes id missed, picked up my missing words and my horrible grammar and fixed it. i would be sitting in a pile of string and sadness if not for you. yall carried me to the end and i am so thankful you stuck with me and my turbulent schedule and motivation.
more coming soon for rebels anthology, trust me :-]
