Not enough people talk about the fact that in the LN universe, the longer the lost children who fell into The Nowhere are in an environment, the more you become the environment.

Six, for example. The longer she was in The Maw, the more the hunger of the environment affected her, until she attacked RK.

The Pretender is likely another example of this. I imagine before she fell into The Nowhere, she was an average spoiled rich kid. But when she fell in, she was too terrified to leave this distorted version of her mansion, and so she stayed there. And the longer she stayed, the more she fell into the archetype of the place - until eventually, she became what we know of her now. A doll-like spoiled girl who views all the dolls and monsters within the mansion as her friends.

And then when Mono was dropped by Six at the end of LN 2, the longer he was in the environment, the more he literally became the Thin Man.

Maybe the reason why you need to keep moving isn't just because monsters lurk around every corner, but also because if you don't, you will lose what makes you yourself. You will merely become an irreversible piece of the environment.
