Here is a 2022 redraw of the popular Sailor Moon redraw challenge

I forgot how much I loved the redesign of the Sailor Scouts I did. Sometimes I don't see how much I've grown as an artist when I don't look back at my art. Seeing the drawings next to each other really put that in perspective.

Here are the drafts of the main characters in Painted Lady. I wasn't happy with any of Marinette's designs. Chat and Beetle I didn't mind but wanted to do more with.

Before I get into more detail about each design, I'm currently writing the Painted Lady. I'm working on Episode 1 Chapter 1.

Painted Lady-

I didn't hate PL design but I thought it could be better. I wanted PL to look formal and showy but I don't think I really stuck the landing on the second try.

Because I threw out the bodysuit-required logic of the show I really had fun.

I kept the colors from the original and changed them around. PL mask is a butterfly folded in half. When she's using the akuma or in her case Tennin. (Angel) From what I learned akuma is devil or demon.

Because PL isn't evil, her lunar moths power up people into heroes with miraculous-like powers. And permanently powers up actual miraculous users.

When PL uses her powers she stays near the battle but never enters the battle as PL she'll enter as CloverBee or Espirt Vixen instead.

Crimson Beetle-

I really did like Crimson's design but once again no more bodysuit really helped. They'll get the jacket back after they lose the mask.

I wanted Crimson to look as far as Ladybug as I could while keeping the Ladybug theme. I also needed them to look vaguely evil, so that Chat's and Plagg dislike towards them makes more sense.

Crimson can see with the mask on, because of miraculous magic. But once they lose the mask they'll have dark red spots spread from their eyes to give the feel of a mask but not have one.

Chat Noir-

Chat Noir my son. I'm not giving my opinion on the show but geez. It is going far too hard on him and Marinette.

Chat has 2 versions of his outfit.

The first outfit has chains wrapping around Chat. Because the outfit is based on what the users wants. I imagine that Chat wanted to express that he feels trapped because the chains have no start or stop point feel like he has no way out.

If this suit was in the show, a lot of akumas would use the chains to cause harm to Chat.

However, after a plot point, Chat will be freed from his abuse. He'll break the chains and the gold will turn into Kintsugi. I didn't want to change his whole look for his second outfit, because being Chat has become a source of comfort. All he wanted was for the chains to be gone.

The green does glow in the dark.

CloverBee-

CloverBee is used after Marinette uses Vixen to pretend to be Ladybug to announce her retirement.

Marinette really wanted to make Clover look as far from both Ladybug and Marinette as possible.

However each of Marinette's forms has the same basic shape.

Which is shorts and long sleeves.

Clover is a mix of athletic and cute-ish styles. Clover's mask is supposed to look like a pair of goggles or sunglasses depending on how you look at it.

Clover does have real wings. She does fly with those wings.

The puffs of fluff? Still hold pollen that can heal or harm depending on what Clover wants done.

Clover is Marinette's 2'nd most used miraculous only behind Painted Lady.

Espirt Vixen-

The only thing I really didn't on Vixen was the pants and shoes but change is change.

Vixen is supposed to be fashionable. Marinette didn't try to change her appearance much for Vixen, because Vixen is mostly stealth.

Vixen didn't have good color distribution being a mostly black color scheme. I gave Vixen 3 major points of black her hair, skirt, and shoes. The rest is a mix of orange and yellowish-orange.

I'm working on the story. When each of these characters is introduced to the story I'll make a high res version of the clothing.

Here are the PL Miraculous redesign. Some info under the cut. I'll go into more detail about the miraculous in a difference post.

Nino / ConShire

Horse Miraculous, I chose to give Nino the horse because in PL Nino feels like he failed Marinette as a friend and Ladybug for failing to protect the miraculous that Ayla and Chloe "lost" during the battle against The Beholder. He wishes he could just be there for his friends.

Color pallets, The Canon horse Miraculous design is... Something. People had explained why it's bad. I won't explain it but to avoid something similar I shake up the color design. Pegasus's design is a lot of dark browns stacked on top of each other. I make ConShire's pallet of richer browns and gave him a silver accent color. His design is a mix of horse jockey and music conducted.

His name is a mix between Conductor and the shire horse.

Kagami/ Ouro-Hydra

Snake/ Dragon miraculous, Kagami is a good fit for the dragon. I can't deny that. As for the snake, Kagami is a perfectionist so she would be good at resetting to find the perfect outcome.

Color Pallet, This was the worst. The design was easy coloring was hard. Trying to mix red and green was a bitch, even now I'm not too happy but can't find a better alternative. Her design is a mix of just armor and her original design. Her horn changed shape and places and gone with the mask and in with the scales.

Ouro-Hydra name is a mix between Ouroboros and Hydra. Both unending mystical creatures.

Marc/ PoetiKit

First things first his first design was ass.

Fox Miraculous, Marc is artistic. His imagination would be perfect to craft illusions. We don't know much about Marc in Canon, but I do imagine that's he's pretty shy and insecure. In the Painted Lady the reason he was akunatized was because Lila trick Nathaniel into believing that Marc plagiarized her and Nathaniel torn his writing. Liliavalso outed Marc as having a crush on Nathaniel, because of this Marc was homeschooled. This was a rare case where Lila did get in trouble. Marinette reached out to Marc and the bonded over being bullied over Lila (Marinette didn't share everything) and bring LGBTQ+.

Color Pallet, His first design was ASS! Once again not much is known about Marc, I had too much freedom. His outfit is a mix of his normal ware and clothes that I think of when I hear rave, but PG. I wanted him to have a cool but simple design.

His name is a mix between Poetic and Kit fix.

Luka/ Turtle

Turtle Miraculous, LUKA IS A PROTECTOR! This dude has taken akumas for people! He is the best!!!!! Luka is a natural fit for the turtle. Protective, a natural leader, and strategic the perfect combo! In the Painted Lady Luka is everyone's big brother/ Nino boyfriend. He lets Adrien live with him after he runs away. (He moves out of the house bout after Kitty Selection kicks Marinette out and hires Lila with out telling him.)

Color Pallet, pirate mixed with Rockstar. I love his design whole heart. I really tried to make it look nothing like either Turtle design as well as Luka's normal design. I also threw the fuck it bucket out and said anything can be a design. I was bored of body suits. My only thing is I hate the color green so. I tried to keep the color simple, I think I didva good job.

His name is a mix of Turtle Shell and Rockstar.

Nino and Luka in the future. They're in a band together. Originally I was going to draw them on stage but I thought that these snapshots of their life would be cuter. The first photo is when Luka proposed to Nino. It was new year's two years after Mayura's defeat. Nino would be 18 and Luka 19. Nino has a scar on the back of his head because of his death during the big battle, he also has a "crack" like scar across his throat. Luka has scars on his back and 2 scars on his chest from being stabbed.

The second photo is of their adopted daughter, Shauna. They adopted her when they were 24 and 25 respectively. During the 10 year time skip that PL Future takes place in she would be 5. She travels with her dads most of the time, but when they go international she stays with auntie Marinette or uncle Adrien. Adrien and Marinette are godfather and mother respectively. Because of time spent with Marinette, Shauna wants to be a designer too. Shauna is selectivity mute. Luka lets her put hair chalk in her hair.

When they travel they keep photos in an album. These are some of the photos found within.

Nino and Luka both kept their miraculous. Though they don't wear them. Shauna is aware of the kwamis, her fathers aren't aware she knows. Wayzz and Kaalki both are protective over Shauna.

Here are some Painted Lady in DnD concepts. Sorry for my poor handwriting. I really like DnD but don't have anyone to play with. I was going to make DnD character sheets but can't find a place that has all the resources I would need for free. All the gods are based on their PL miraculous not the Canon.

My next post should be one of those where you give your character a voice so be on the lookout.

Ranboo is by far my favorite character on the SMP. I personal headcanon him as half ghast. I imagine that when he get overwhelmed he not only can teleport at random but just floats uncontrollably. I’m going to make him a full ref cause I have a lot of headcanons for him.

Here are the voice I imagine my PL AU OCs to have. I won't apologize for only using Sailor Moon and BNHA characters. I don't watch a lot of T.V anime or otherwise. There are 2 voices for each person because I wanted to give a range. If I have to chose 1 voice for each, Vivienne/Crimson Beatle as Sailor Uranus, Aurora/Mini Mice as Sailor Mercury, Lillian/The Hare as Jirou Kyouka, Brethold/Royal Miel as Denki Kaminari. But idk you can imagine what ever you want.

The concept art of the hero costume for the 3.
