So last week I recorded this video when the black canary pictures came out. And you can hear Sara as she IMs me in the background. I pretty much flipped the fuck out.
Comment Question: how did you become a feminist?
I should also say up top right here that there are so many great feminist youtubers that I don't mention in this video. Literally had a brain fart in the middle of the question.

Questions for the Tag:
How and when did you realize you were a feminist? What is your favorite feminist book/movie/song? Where do you go to read up on current feminist topics? How do you treat yourself? What’s the most effective way to explain feminism to a newbie? Fill in the blank: I kick the patriarchy to the curb by _______? Do you have any feminist Youtubers that you recommend? I was tagged by Untappedinkwell to do the feminism is my jam tag and I did it because feminism is so important to talk about and yes, I know I talk about it a lot. That is the indicator of how important this is to me. However, I do express some concerns about the tag and supporting Feminist Apparel.

Re: Anger. | VloggedLifeNina
So I read the transcript of "Anger Trees" and I had something that I wanted to say about it because the metaphor for the anger should not just be one that the abusers can use. And I thought that it was important to talk about how anger is helpful and that being angry at abuse can be powerful.
The Transcript of "Anger Trees" from Youtube Speaks: http://youtubespeaks.tumblr.com/post/99411626253/transcript-of-alex-days-video-anger-trees
youtubespeaks is such a great resource for learning about everything that has been going on in the community. It gives a lot of voices a lot of amplification.

Art Assignment: The Quietest Place
So for this one I was actually really inspired by the Art Assignment, because it's so wonderful to think about how silence disrupts our daily lives. And for me, videos are a really important part of my life. I do them a lot, currently doing them everyday and videos require (usually) a lot of talking and a lot of thought to go into them.
This assignment allowed the images to work for themselves and I actually really like that idea. I like the idea that I am not the central focus and this place that I use so often, because it's a quiet place to go and film and not look like a complete insane person talking to a camera, is the center stage player.
For me, the quietest place I know still has some element of city noise. Driving cars in the distance. People trudging to and from classes. But when you go completely silent, you realize almost how overblown those noises are in your head.
I really enjoyed this assignment even if it was weird for me to not to speak in my videos, but also it's weird that this sort of forgotten green patch with rocks is the quietest place I could find on campus. Maybe it's time to look for some new nooks.
