VMware vSphere management – there is a tool for that...
Companies have made countless free tools that will make VMware vSphere more manageable. Let’s say you want to see key summary statistics for your VMware environment than there is a tool for that: vKernel VM Stats. What if you want to monitor changes that occur to multiple objects inside the vCenter, than there is a tool for that: vSphere Mini Monitor 2.0. A tool like Vdisk Waste Finder, to report if disks are over-allocated or vDisk Informer that shows which virtual disks have wasted space or are misaligned and are influencing performance. Want to use your mobile phone to monitor and manage your VMware infrastructure on the go then vCMA is for you. vEcoShell is a nice tool for optimizing and configuring your virtual infrastructure. It also provides the ability to identify groups of objects that interest you for recurrent reports. Need to manage guest operating systems on a VM, then just download VGC. VM Health Monitor provides complete server data and shows them in nice graphs and reports. There are plenty of tools out there and I can go on for a long time listing all of them here. All of those tools will help you with VMware vSphere management, and for a much bigger list of VMware vSphere tools that you can get for free, here are a couple of links: vSphere land free tools list and my last blog post. Which VMware vSphere tools do you use to manage your virtual environment?
