What’s new in Veeam ONE ver.6?
Probably the most comprehensive tool for virtualization management for Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere, Veeam ONE, has undergone some serious renewal and was recently introduced in its sixth incarnation – Veeam ONE ver. 6.0. Many of the key features which this VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V management tool was so dear to the users were advanced in order to make the tool even more user-friendly than it’s been before. So, what’s new in Veeam ONE version 6?
First of all, the installation procedure itself. Version six is way easier it install and set-up. You just download one iso file from the developer’s website – and here you go, in 20 minutes maximum you’re running the program already! For the rest it’s still what it always used to be – the most comprehensive tool for VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V management, but now with even more transparency and well-thought-out interface. Veeam ONE v6 also offers advanced monitoring capabilities with new summary, alarm and resource dashboards which means that you can obtain all the information on the health and performance of the whole virtual infrastructure whenever you wish. With increased number of prebuilt alarms for each supported hypervisor (for instance, for Hyper-V there are over 90 of them) Veeam ONE v6 you can be sure you’re well informed about all the critical events occurring in your virtual infrastructure.
For each virtual machine manager in Veeam ONE v6 there are 6 fully customizable dashboards that offer general overview as well as an opportunity to easily drill down to get all the details that appear important at the moment. Also the reporting system has undergone some serious redevelopment. There are a number of new and enhanced reports including storage capacity overview, storage usage, virtual infrastructure, hypervisor, clusters and VMs overviews. Other useful reporting innovations include monthly reports, html report viewing which allows you to look through the reports in your browser window and enhanced reports search capabilities thanks to the tagging system for all the reports.
It’s also important to mention that Veeam ONE is also available at free edition. Veeam ONE v6 Free Edition is probably the best free server virtualization management tool now on the market. VMware vSphere management – there is a tool for that...
Companies have made countless free tools that will make VMware vSphere more manageable. Let’s say you want to see key summary statistics for your VMware environment than there is a tool for that: vKernel VM Stats. Manage VMware from your iPad
My whole life is revolving around the iPad now. I have my eye on iPad 2 but haven’t pulled the trigger just yet. As always I am on the lookout for great new apps that would make my life easier. Finally VMware is making it easier for IT professionals to monitor their VMware vSphere infrastructure with the new application built specifically for the iPad. The iPad application will not have all the features currently available for the desktop, instead it will have features that the IT staff would need while traveling.
This vSphere Client application for the iPad will be able to:
Show virtual machine status
Check for alerts
Stop, restart, or suspend a VM
Show CPU and memory use
And more!

With VMware launching View Client and vSphere Client for iPad, I will now be able to manage any virtual environment from the comfort of my couch in my home.
