In discussing Amane and her whole situation, what I dislike most is the way some people use the rhetoric "she has lived in poor conditions since she was born. she is already lost to the rest of the world. she is ill and has no future," as if this implies the idea that everyone who was not born into a rich and loving family does not deserve the right to help, rehabilitation and life as such. as if anyone who is not mentally healthy by the standards of society does not deserve to live. It's as if it's the children's fault that they were born in these conditions, so the punishment for them will be society's ignor, and death will be their salvation. and this is such a disgusting thought, because a very large number of people are born into dysfunctional families.
