Something that last reblog reminded me of. That I'm pretty sure I've already talked about. Is that the VNOG Ussal sprites are actually backwards:
And they way the sprites are designed also makes them look more insectoid, with the way the "arms" are depicted making them almost resemble wings, and the added pincers and eyes giving it a cartoony bug face.
With the exception of the legs, head, eyestalk, mask and tools (and also the colours of like half the pieces), this design was made using pieces from Balta, Garan and Piruk, for. Reasons (the cut Garan/Balta hybrid sprite from VNOG's files that the fandom seems to have latched onto as being Dezalk, plus the fact that, in canon, Dezalk was the first Matoran to be enslaved by the Piraka, and the Matoran slaves in VNOG are slightly-modified Piruk recolours. And then the tools are based on the weird VNOG Pulse Bolt Generator sprites).
Custom parts used:
Articulated Matoran legs from Godfyr's pack.
Head from @nattarthetimedragon's custom head pack.
Some official parts from Sidopak and Biopack.
Colours from the Community Colourpack and Unpixelled's Colourpack (the latter requires K4's Colour and Materials Pack in order to work).
Also an alternate version based on the Matoran Slave sprites.
Ok yeah, "what if the MNOG Pakari is what the Noble version looks like", but also. Have you considered the possibility of "what if the VNOG Elda is what the Noble version looks like".
For reference, this is what the VNOG Elda looks like:
This is genuinely one of the strangest things on Biosector, like at least two of those cited sources aren't actually relevant (you never get to see the Ignika properly in either, and what little you see of it looks nothing like this design, plus the third one is a book so there isn't even any visual representation), and then it says that the depicted version only appears in VNOG and Bionicle Heroes, the former of which is only semi-canon and the latter of which is intentionally non-canon. And like there's no Word of Greg to back up the canonicity of this design. What the fuck.
Aaaaaaa new Studio pack! Contains some of the absolutely mangled (affectionate) parts from VNOG (plus the original Spear of Fusion design) and also An Attempt at the VNOG version of the Power Carvers that I might redo at some point.
Also I reorganised my custom parts thing so that now stuff from 2024 and earlier is in one folder, and stuff from 2025 onwards is in its own one so that it's easier to browse The New Stuff™.
Suppose in theory that I was possibly making a custom parts pack based on the VNOG versions of certain Bionicle parts. Would I, in this purely theoretical situation that is entirely hypothetical, name these parts after the original use of the piece or what it represents in the game? Like, would Garan/Dezalk's claws be, hypothetically, called "Chronicler's Staff (VNOG Style)" or "Pulse Bolt Generators (VNOG Style)"? Just in theory, of course. As a fun thought exercise. *Cough*
"[LOCATION] Online Game"s that have nothing in common gameplay-wise with MNOG, mostly because they both try to have RPG mechanics to varying degrees (MNOG II has skill-checks, VNOG is a full-on turn-based isometric RPG). Also I don't like either of them as much as MNOG and I haven't finished either of them.
Before anyone points it out, yes I know VNOG was made by a different studio than MNOG.
