Decided to talk more about my vsynth hcs:

You may remember in past I said all the vsynth live in this internet-real life hybrid place. The reason that place and all the vsynth exist is that it’s basically a manifestation of human creativity on the internet, and a consequence of that is that they just. Can’t die.

Like, most vsynth have basically the same physical traits of a human,(they get hungry, they need to sleep, if you cut one they bleed, etc.) and their just as mortal as a human, but if they ever actually die they just respawn after a little while, they can’t die because they a manifestation of the human mind and the internet and it not like humanity suddenly forgot they exist and the internet suddenly deleted everything related to them just because they died in the intersect. This therefore means they can only really die once there’s not a single person earth that remember who they are, AND there’s no trace of them on the internet, in fact should such an event occur they’ll fade out of existence, until they’re no more. And they’ll be nobody to grieve their death…

Tbh just one of two happening is probably still pretty bad for a vsynth. It’s like you’re half dead. That can’t possibly be nice.

hey i wanna talk to you about my world building vocaloid & vocal synth headcanons today (threat). don’t expect any of this to make sense

i imagine that all vocal synths are idols or musicians of some kind. they’re like their own niche of performers within their universe like j-pop or k-pop idols and such are.

i also interpret vocal synths to be their own species: human-ish but not fully androids either. they‘re just their own thing and possess over non-human traits such as not aging, being presumably immortal and having magical powers (though that last part is still kind of ambiguous at this point). 

another notable thing about this species is that it’s manmade, and with that, the outlier among the usual species that exist within this universe such as humans, elves, vampires and different kinds of human & animal hybrids.

the vocal synths are "developed" by a company called "vocal center" which i imagine to have been founded by dr. dareka & nurse robot_type t (who, within this storyline, are not vocal synths themselves even though they like. actually are utaus in real life)

all vocal synths used to be of a usual species (usual species in this context equate to any species that *aren’t* vocal synths) and after getting accepted through passing a typical idol audition, they need to go through development which essentially means that they get put in a capsule. now, this sounds batshit (and it is) but this is kinda just common knowledge among the auditioners. it’s part of the grind if you will …

the development process doesn’t change the person in appearance besides a few small things. it mainly gives the idols their immortality, makes them unable to physically age beyond whatever age they are at that moment and gives them odd powers that are still being studied. well, and obviously the voice changes as well.

(this is what this wip i shared a while ago was about! and i still didn’t finish it…)

the process is a mix of technology and magic. the magic stems from a type of crystal called "sonarite" (or, sound stones), which are a magical kind of rock that have many mysterious legends attached to them. there is no one specific place where you can find them and when you hold them up to your ear, you can hear faint music and nature ambiance from them. these crystals are needed for the capsules to complete the process of development.

one strange ability vocal synths have is that they’re able to teleport to a parallel universe. it’s a very nature-y place with a town in the center where all the synths live. as of now, i call the world "synica", but this may be changed.

also, cause i didn’t know where to put this: my headcanon world is called "idol untold" and i tag it a lot on here, so that’s what that’s about :P

i‘ve daydreamed about this being a comic for a good while, but i have only so much clue about how the plot goes. i chose the name idol untold since it obviously features idols, music & performance and the untold part because i enjoy the idea of a theme of the story being to look at what the personal lives of the idols are like, how they got to their current points in life, what they feel about their career behind the scenes and the non-idol related parts of their lives. the "untold" parts, so to speak. it revolves a lot around the relationships and passions of everyone along with their journey finding what they truly are.

also! a note about the pictures of my black & white sketches i used: i drew these very quickly on my notes app and lost everything on the app a while back so i had saved them as pretty poor quality pictures. i used the ibispaint super resolution feature to make them look a bit clearer so they have this weird ai blur on them. i hope it doesn’t look too ugly ^^'

a fully self indulgent vocal synth headcanon post as a treat for myself

continuing this headcanon series with more characters, this time with my four all time favorite vocal synths! these guys are essentially the face of everything i make, so it's probably good for my followers to know some of my headcanons on them. if you know these characters and have ever thought "why do they look like That" about any of my fanart of them, here is the explanation (⁠ ^▽^ ⁠)

as i've said here, dex's isn't done yet and will be redrawn and probably also slightly redesigned. i also want to draw sprites of my designs with their original outfits on (the designs that I currently only have as sprite edits), but i only have blake so far (which i shared on here before). if drawing unshaded full body transparent background drawings was a competition i would win

i don't know who needs this written out but with polycule i mean i enjoy all combinations of ships between these four except the siblings. just making sure i don't get accused of incest idk

Ive been trying to figure out how to add strawberry debris into idol untold, but I'm stuck have anyideas, this way you can be annoying about idol untold and I can be annoying about strawberrydebris :3

i think i could make them work within the world building of idol untold if i take some creative liberty with their original backstories.

cutoff here cause it’s a little long and i don’t wanna clog people’s dashes lol

since they’re both robots (aisu genuinely just being a robot and gomi being a spirit possessed robot), i think i would make them be robots built by dr. dareka as experiments. 

as i’ve mentioned before, dr. dareka founded the company vocal center and i view him to be a scientist that‘s heavily involved with the technology of vocal synth development and such. since he (both canonically & within idol untold) built nurse robot type t (taotie), i imagine he has a big interest in building robots and by extension, an interest in trying to apply the magic that’s typically used on real people wanting to become vocal synths onto robots as well. that‘s why i imagine that he built momone momo, defoko and adachi rei (since they’re also canonically robots) as successful attempts that apply vocal synth magic onto a pre built robot. he plays with this idea since using sonarite as the core power of a robot leads to more natural ways of speaking and more skillful singing rather than using a plain old voicebox.

aisu and gomi could have been more attemps of dr. dareka trying to create robot based vocal synths. perhaps the two of them were projects that were meant to go together from the start, since i feel like they do contrast each other nicely with aisu being the very cutesy, prim and proper half and gomi being the little gremlin made of scraps and trash.

depending on what you prefer, you could make it end with the two of them being created like that, or you could keep the element of gomi’s robot body being possessed by a spirit by saying that building aisu ended up going smoothly while gomi was pretty dysfunctional and was meant to be scrapped altogether. then you could say that said spirit entered her body while the body was a short time away from being discarded or that aisu tries to convince dr. dareka to keep working on gomi since aisu wants to keep her friend. i think any of those ways is how i would do it if i were to add them to idol untold!

and another note, once the two are both functional and ready to move to synica, i think i‘d also make them be roommates since all the houses in synica tend to be shared between 4-7 people each. with them debuting at the same time in this storyline, it would make sense for them to end up in the same house! if aisu & gomi as roommates is an appealing idea to you ^^ 

unfortunately i don’t really know how i’d add the element of aisu being a robot created by a class of children though… i tend to change as much as i feel like with canon vocal synth backstories since they oftentimes don’t fit into my established world building ^^‘
