Feb 23: Linz, Austria
Our group took a day trip to Linz, Austria.
Our first stop was a steel factory, Voest Alpine. While steel manufacturing isn't really a topic I'm generally interested in, some of the information was actually kind of interesting. So was watching huge chunks of glowing hot metal fly around inside a factory. The best part of the whole thing was their museum, which had all these giant hanging steel balls. It gave a really cool effect to the building.
After that, we had lunch and wandered a bit before heading over to the Ars Electronica museum. This museum was the coolest museum I have ever been to and the coolest I will probably ever go to. The premise is the connections between art, technology, and people. There were so many really cool exhibits. You could take a silhouetted picture of yourself and have a machine cut it into a sticker. You could draw a 3D figure and print out a paper copy of it. You could play tug of war with a person miles away. It was such a fantastic museum and I definitely plan on going back.
After the museum, we got on the bus to go back home. Immediately after, Kristi and I headed over to the train station for our trip to Berlin.
