I gotta admit I am FASCINATED by the recent influx of protest/political songs that use Kasane Teto as the vocals/an image of the people. I mean it makes perfect sense. She’s the most popular free UTAU, she’s got an underdog story, she’s basically a grassroots voicebank,,,

also I think that the crack cocaine that’s in voicebanks that allows people to express deeply vulnerable things through them is also working well in the protest song niche. Because you can make these songs entirely in your room without ever having to say a single thing out loud IRL, you can voice your feelings that you’d usually be scared of people overhearing. It’s great

I see a lot of Communist Teto songs but I’m personally more interested in the US-Centric protest songs. My current faves are Billionaire Buffet by Flanger Moose and US of F U by Flanger Moose and Delicious Morsels. Seriously Flanger Moose is carrying this niche on their back…

There’s also a lot of, like, general lament songs? General lamentations of the quality of life of gen z, I guess??? Stuff like Minimum Rage by MonochroMenace and I’ll Always Kill Myself Too Late by Reclaimant of Life are the two big ones for me, but I think that songs like LOG OFF by Staircatte and Brain Rot by Tokyo Manaka kind of fit here for Online Hellscape reasons
