I tend not to make lists bc I don’t want anyone to feel left out. But will say that my all time fave is Fetch by @voicedimplosives bc it was one of the first fics I ever read and it was so good it blew my socks off.

Then comes the amazing art (my fave is by @proporgo) and the tshirt I now own thx to @omfgreylo. I also own a red adidas track jacket in case I ever attend a reylo event.

The year is 1994. The Iron Curtain has come down, the oligarchs have begun their rise to power, and Kyril Ren, a powerful member of the infamous crime syndicate Solntsevskaya Bratva, has been given a job: hunt down an estranged uncle who has been snitching to the FBI.

Irena, nicknamed Rey by her adoptive father Luke, is a Krav Maga instructor in New York who has finally been able to obtain her original birth certificate from Russia. Turns out she was born in a little village named Vershinino, but if she wants to know more than that… she’s going to have to go there herself.

It’s time that I update Tam’s copy of fetch, because honestly she deserves it after gifting the Reylo community with this iconic fic. I used the best artwork that she linked in the latest chapter update to really level up the look of this book. I’m quite proud of this one.

Manip for one of my favorite fics right now, All Our Days.

If you have yet to read this WIP, I highly recommend it, it’s beautifully done, the world building is incredible and the character development is a masterpiece.

“Go I know not whither” is SUCH a good fic and I’m surprised it isn’t even more popular and well-known than it is. What do you like about it, are there particular things?

I like your taste, my friend.👌 To me, “Go I know not whither” is like a secret Reylo membership handshake. If you see the red tracksuit at a SW convention, then you KNOW what’s up. 😂

There’s so much I adore about this fic, but I’ll narrow it down to three things: 

1. The worldbuilding. The first time I read this fic, I was 100% convinced that it was written by someone Russian. I had this image in my head of @voicedimplosives as this beautiful Russian woman who was writing a love letter not only to Reylo, but to her country. So imagine my surprise when I made a comment to this effect only to learn that she is not, in fact, Russian. 🤣

She is a MASTER at setting the scene. The research she puts into her world building is astounding (it’s true of all her fics). But this universe in particular is so rich and intricate– so full of lore, details, and imagery that make every chapter an immersive experience. There are so many scenes and moments that are vividly seared into my memory. Thanks to her, Russia is now near the top of my bucket list. 😍

2. Her prose. She’s an incredible writer. When people ask me about the “best” writers in the Reylo fandom (which I admit is subjective), she always comes to mind. I would like someone to audio record her fics and let her beautiful, soothing prose lull me to sleep at night. 😂

3. The Reylo dynamic. Last but certainly not least: the Reylo dynamic is outstanding. It’s sooo so soft and loving and amazing (and deeply hot, of course, because she knows how to write some incredible sexual tension and smut. Like, I am warning the uninitiated right now: bring a fire hose 🤤🔥🔥). It really is a modern take on a soulmates fic, because they are instantly drawn to one another and fall head over heels. It’s deeply romantic and healing, and elements of canon Reylo are interwoven in the plot so cleverly. You will root for them hard. Seriously, Irena and Kyril are #couplegoals. 

Anyway I can talk about this fic forever and it 1000% deserves the cult status it’s reached. If you haven’t read it, WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY DOING WITH YOUR LIFE. 😂 Thanks for the ask, nonny! 💕

All our Days, by @voicedimplosives, complete, canonverse, Persuasion AU, 20/20 chapters

8 years after their ill-fated romance in Jakku, Rey encounters Captain Ben Solo, the man who broke her heart. The story goes back and forth from when they first met, their courtship and painful break up, to the present day. Both older, we glimpse into the former lovers’ special connection through their force bond and their love that has never been really gone.

I haven’t cried so much over a story for a long, long time. While the story ended happily, the emotional journey that the characters took was so finely wrought. Supporting Rey and Ben are a mix of canon and original characters, each contributing so much to the narrative, along with the rich sense of places, planets and elements therein. The author’s fantastic research was also a big part of my enjoyment of the world she built. I love all the themes her story raises – the pain of dysfunctional families, living with the consequences of our own choices, and how true happiness lies in our acceptance of ourselves, our own paths and the folks around us. This version of Austen’s Persuasion will always stay with me.

He tries to hold back his own knowing smirk, but the deepening cleft in his cheek, parallel to an old scar (too long to be a dimple, precisely), gives him away.

“Is this how it’s always going to be?” he asks, pretending to be annoyed. “Every time I tell you?” 

She shrugs, happily. “I don’t know. Tell me again.”

His face softens. “I love you,” he repeats, his voice husky and low. 

“You do?” Her grin widens as he sighs exasperatedly. She winds her arms around his neck and brings her lips right to his. 

“Good. I love you, too.”
