100 DAYS OF YURI: Day 65 - Voiceful

Voiceful by Nawoko is one of the earlier Yuri manga works of the current ear. It originally ran in Yuri Shimai, the first Yuri magazine as Voice before concluding in Yuri Hime. It follows the story of Kanae, an introverted student with no friends, who spends her days alone listening to her favorite singer, Hina. One day Kanae passes Hine on the street and, upon recognizing her, wished her happiness. The two women grow close and help each other deal with their past trauma and become stronger together.

While light on the Yuri front, Voiceful provides a delicate and compelling story about two women growing together thanks to music and personality. It is full of beautiful and restrained art and story. The manga is published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment back when the “Strawberry” line was a thing (goodness it has been a while) but is out of print. However, volumes of it can be found for sale on the internet in good condition.
