The void machine

So I guess I will draft roughly how I thought the void portal machine will look like.

It is basically built of three main components.

The microphone: This part is only essential in calibrating the machine. It is basically a microphone linked to an device linked to a machine that shows and splits up frequencies. So in case of thebonestaircase, Wayland would put his left hand in and let the void magic built up. The waves that are emitted would be caught by the microphone, maginfied and led to the recorder. The tricky part here is getting the right frequency. Since you cannot just built up power in an idle, it would be the mix between activating a power, the release of a power and the song of runes and charms. This will require most of testing time.

The speaker: The frequencies caught in the microphone would now get maginfied. Until the frequences are aligned

The portal field: Maybe the biggest part. It is enveloped by the speaker and here the frequence will built up until the frequence of the void and this one overlay, creating an opening/portal. It would need huge amounts of power I guess and maybe runes as connecting devices.

So this is a rough sketch. Any input is most welcome :)
