this is really fucking me up why is He in a 71 year old movie
realized my transition goal is pretty much to look like a Go Nagai protagonist (yes these are all different guys)
every time i'm unpacking a new figurine i feel like a midwife
'congratulations! it's a beautiful healthy baby Falin!'
i've been thinking about the Thing choosing specifically Norris and/or Palmer to infect first. the more i think about it, the more it makes perfect sense. Norris is quiet, soft-spoken, and it can be argued well-liked (nobody except himself had any objections to him taking over as leader). he also had a heart condition, which some of the others could be privy to. thus, his perceived threat level would be low. it would make sense the Thing would want to become him. same goes for Palmer, but in a different way. the Thing observed he likes to keep his headphones on, he is often zoned out and under the influence of drugs. the Thing would recognize that it would make sense to start with him, as any behavior not deemed 'standard or normal' for a human would be excused if it was him.
neither of them also did any essential work, or at least work that it would need to do constantly - Palmer was one of two mechanics, so it could theoretically put all the work on Childs, and Norris was a geophysicist, nothing THAT essential to every day operations. perfect to just hang around and look out for information / victims.
you couldn't put the Dunmeshi party in The Thing because they would straight up eat it. there is no way for it to win against Laios' special interest, and though he's bad with people, he would sniff it out immediately. Marcille would protest more than ever about eating it, even thought she'd be the one to kill it with her fire spell. Chilchuck heard saying: "This is somehow more fucked up than the merfolk eggs..." Senshi would grill it to perfection so that it was well dead and digestible. Izutsumi.
every bite a new flavour, like mystery jellybeans
after playing some Monster Con i can comfortably say i do NOT regret being a Doug stan since Monster Camp.
in one of the best news of my life my boyfriend found and bought an original 1982 The Thing Crew Jacket he found on ebay (refuses to tell me how much it cost him god bless), so when that gets here best believe i will document that shit expediously. also, i will never take it off, it's gonna become a part of my daily wardrobe like i'm a cartoon character.
