Grain in Ear is the 9th solar term. It marks the peak of summer farming — wheat must be harvested quickly while rice seedlings are planted without delay, hence the saying: “A day in Grain in Ear matters more than a year.”
Today is Lixia, or the Start of Summer ,the 7th solar term on the Chinese lunar calendar. It officially marks the end of spring and the beginning of summer. Traditionally, people welcome the warmer days by eating eggs, weighing themselves and enjoying fresh seasonal produce.
SKETCHING THE FOLDS AND BENDS
This is a sketch modal which is why a new style of making a design has been introduced: TRANSFORMATION.
The elements were chosen from the last assignment’s elements. Only procedures that should be applied were folding, bending and cutting without ripping off. Because of being a sketch modal, transformation process were practiced and a complete design were not done. Folding takes you to the point that you usually do in the previous assignments. But bending is different, bend has a specific duty: DIRECTING THE VOIDFLOWS. And it is quite far from being an ornament thing. OCT 30/2014
