Halo, just wanna pop in and say how much I appreciate the abudance of Booker content and meta you're posting here. I love reading them, esp the parts reg Booker's paternal grief + being the only one who had children (which I imagine might make it harder for the others to talk about it with him). I sincerely hope in the next ones we can see an overt dealing of Booker's issues, and HELL YEAH for more Booker and Joe interaction, and for that matter, more Booker and Nicky too please 🙏
Funnily enough, I always thought I was gonna be posting more content about Nicky/Joe because they are my favorite. But there is something that’s just very sad about the things that we know canonically in this story that Booker has been through, and having seen paternal grief with my parents’ friends, it’s something that I realized that just struck home very closely for me. Booker’s story and his grief is something that I have seen happen with my own eyes, and it hurts that he’s collapsing under the weight of all that the way I’ve seen my parents’ friends did. I just don’t want to see that happening to anyone.
I do hope that the sequel will give some time to deal with Booker’s trauma, because this continual repression of it and just sinking to more drinking and self-flagellation aren’t healthy. Perhaps his story can mirror with Quynh’s story of anger and trauma as well.
But yes, I also hope that there are more Booker’s interactions with Joe and Nicky because there is a lot of pain between the three of them, and that needs to be properly addressed as well as Booker’s actions did hurt them the most.
