The talks were taking longer than usual today. Niles was waiting around outside the room for Link, who usually wasted no time in getting out of the room when everything was done.

And then he heard the sound of a sword being drawn. Instantly, Niles had his bow in his hand, and he burst through the door, only to be met with- gods. No. This couldn’t be real. For a moment, he froze, shocked- and then he lifted his bow, sudden rage filling him.

“You won’t get out of here alive,” he growled. “I fucking trusted you. I knew that was a stupid mistake.” And he wouldn’t be making any more. It might be too late to save the king, but he wouldn’t let anything else happen today. Nocking an arrow, Niles fired straight at Link’s heart. The odds of him dodging that were minuscule, but he readied another arrow just in case.

“And how exactly do you plan on doing that? Unless I’m missing something, I don’t see a single opening anywhere around here.” Alea took a once-over around their tiny cell and exhaled sharply, crossing her arms over her chest. “Can’t believe we’re stuck in here...”

Link had seemed rather quiet these past few days. More so than normal. Niles couldn't rid himself of his curiosity, so naturally he had to go and investigate. For Link, though, he would be a little more gentle than usual. He found himself rather liking the other, after all...

"Is everything alright? I know you're a quiet person, but this is ridiculous. I've barely heard a word out of you all week."

Niles frowned down at the man he had found lying injured on the ground- nothing life threatening, but he certainly looked like he could use some medical attention. "I saw you fighting earlier, but you certainly aren't part of our army... Care to explain yourself? If not, I have absolutely no qualms whatsoever about taking you into our dungeon and putting a few more bloody holes in you."

"Really?" Niles had been expecting surprise, or disgust, or maybe even acceptance of his invitation, but not cluelessness. It was almost funny, but at the same time almost sad. "Come on, Link. You must know what I mean. You said there was a girl, back where you came from. And you kissed me once, so you can't be entirely innocent. Surely."
