(Vol. III)

It was a love story, from the very beginning

"Getting too close to you."

Hello my friends! How are you? Enjoying the hiatus?? Are you boring? Well... I bring to you my third volume of these meta project. Helped by my talented friend @agusvedder , she made the gifs on this meta and also gave me some ideas in our discussions.

I decided to divide this topic (Castiel) In two parts. So you will see volume III and IV will be talking mostly about Edlund's episode 16 from season 4.

In this first part I wanted to talk to you about Castiel growing interest in Dean's and how Angels disapproved it. I hope you enjoy this as we enjoyed analysing it.

Let's start...

"He likes you."

When Cas get closer to Dean with the heart to heart conversation on the park, the heads of the Angel took control of that situation. It was scandalous that an angel wanted to get close to a human. Angels don't do that. Have feelings for an angel could be risky for Heaven's mission, and more if that angel was Castiel. So... In 4x10 (the episode where Anna had sex with Dean) Uriel visited our hunter in his dreams. It was weird for Dean bc... Till that moment, the one who was the nexus between Heaven orders and him was Castiel, so when he asked Uriel where was CAS... Uriel answered in such a mockery way...

Even then angels knew Castiel was in risk, they saw the angel was getting too close to Dean Winchester, and that could be a dangerous game.

So since then, Uriel was in charge.

It was very important the scene in 4x16 when Uriel and Castiel went to pick up Dean, they needed him to break Alastair... Uriel was in charge and Castiel was in soldier mode, obediently settled on the backwards.

When Castiel tried to empathize with Dean again... Saying "We know this has to be hard for you..." Uriel cut him off, turning to see CAS and immediately said :" AND WE DON'T CARE." And Cas's attitude was automatically avoid all eye contact and stay firm as a soldier in duty.

But Dean insisted, even with Uriel there, giving him the orders from Heaven, Dean talked directly to CAS, as if Uriel wasn't there.

Cas looks hurt, he doesn't want to do this... But he has to. They have orders and he had been scolded by his superiors for getting to close to this human, for worrying about Dean's feelings.

Uriel cut the drama again, and corrected both, Dean and Castiel, saying "He isn't asking you.", And they kidnapped him.

Castiel's honesty

Honesty, as we know Castiel uses with Dean, brutally sincere, and it always let Dean without words...

When they arrived where Alastair was, Uriel started to talk again with Dean, but Dean... Wanted to talk with Castiel, so Uriel left.

Dean asked CAS why Uriel was in charge... And CAS, as always, was very sincere...

First gif ... Dean can't understand what is Castiel referring about, but then, Castiel strikes again with such sincere confession...humans in my charge become YOU. And Dean remains speechless, his face is priceless, he drops his gaze but focused on Cas (maybe checking him out, like..m are you flirting with me?). The hunter is trying to process those intense and intimate words. It looks like nobody ever have told him such profound words, since Castiel appeared in his life, the angel had said to him this kind of things so deep and huge, changing him forever.

The quote "Doorways to DOUBT" here is very very symbolic and important, because DOUBT WAS ALREADY IN CASTIEL'S HEART, but angels didn't know this, they tried to separate CAS from Dean, by putting Uriel in charge.

Immediately after this... Cas took soldier position again, showing to Dean his profile, Dean passed by him, and as if he was begging... He said... "Believe me, you don't want me to do this."

And CAS empathizes again with him...

Is bc, he just can't with it. He knows he doesn't have to get close to Dean, but is impossible not to do that, because everything is pushing him around this human. They are magnets for each other.

Then Dean's face again, when he heard Castiel's sincere words... He knows then... He has not choice there... Bc Castiel is there doing that against his will as well.

Heart to heart again.

And is very beautiful how this episode ends... It ends with CAS going to the Hospital visit Dean, to see if he is ok.

This reminded me CAS and Dean in the park being honest with each other... Well now is time for Dean... And here is where Dean cried in front of CAS... Such an huge thing here...

Cas was honest with him, very, he've just killed Uriel, and now his doubts about Heaven are settled on him. (I will talk about Anna as a representation of his doubts and foreshadow for Castiel's fall in volume IV). So, even if Heaven said he had not allowed to get close to Dean, he ended sitting by the hunter's bed, talking with him.

And CAS tells Dean each truth he had about Heaven's plans, everything he knew.

And he listened to this broken human, and watched him cry. Touched again by him. By his feelings. Empathizing again, getting too close to him again.

To conclude:

Cas was scolded by heaven for getting too close to Dean, so they switches command with Uriel

Knowing Castiel was worrying about Dean's feelings, Uriel was used as the new cockblocker here, and Castiel tried to remain as a soldier, avoiding eye contact with Dean.

Asking Dean something horrible that made him feel so wrong, just allowed his doubts to grow more.

Even with his orders, Castiel went to see Dean at the Hospital, knowing he was in that shape because of Uriel's fault, and they had a heart to heart conversation, showing us the importance of their recently relationship by writing Dean crying in front of Castiel.
