Usually, when a home like late comedian Bob Hope’s spaceship house comes on the market, it starts a bidding war, b/c it’s difficult to find a home with a mixture of celebrity heritage, design pedigree, and desirable locale. But, so far there are no takers. Maybe it’s the $25 million price tag.

It’s called the spaceship house, but the architect’s vision was a volcano.

It was a very 70s vision with three visor-like arches and an undulating concrete roof, a hole at its center opening a courtyard to the sky. One of the main problems is that it’s in a resort town and not near Silicon Valley.

The oculus is the home’s most dramatic feature.

Built in 1979 from steel, concrete and glass, the home features a boulder in the living room and a curving, copper roof with a massive hole in the middle.

The kitchen features stainless steel and granite.
