Surfin’ Bird

Brahminy Kite’s are typically oceanic hunters and stay close to bodies of water. Staying true to his avian nature and name, Kite loves the ocean. It's practically his mistress.

Along with swimming and sailing, Kite’s favorite past time is surfing. He does so at least daily, choosing to spend his time on the water early in the morning before his people and family are awake.

Raven and Qrow love spending time with their father while at the beach. Daddy can do awesome tricks with his surfboard and the twins get private lessons from the veteran surfer. Sometimes, they get to ride on his board with him.

Cerise hates the water so if the whole family is on the beach, she just stays on shore keeping an eye on the cooler and does her best to read all the while not turning into a red lobster.

Qrow: DAD YOU’RE HOME! -attacks with love-

Kite: -stunned beyond belief-

Anon Asks: How do Qrow's parents feel about him blaming himself over everything his semblance does?

Qrow: I’m sorry! -muffled- I’m so, so sorry, Mom! Dad!

Kite: Stop it, son. That’s enough. -strokes his back-

Cerise: -Holds her son, stroking his hair- It’s okay, Qrow. You’ve nothing to apologize for.

Qrow: -sobs- Y-yes I do! It’s all because of me! Me! -holds his mother tighter as his sobs grow in weight and volume-

Kite: Now that is enough, Qrow! You’re fine. It’s all okay!

Qrow: -cries, not responding-

Cerise & Kite: -glance at one another, worryingly, holding their son close until he is done-

They hate it. Like Kite, Qrow can’t control his Semblance. It breaks their hearts to see their little boy so distraught.

Kite will be talking with him tonight, setting the boy straight about his self-loathing and blaming. He wants it to end and to be there for his son who is struggling with himself.

Kite: You look so beautiful in that sweatshirt.

Cerise: You’re such a despicable man.

Kite: -swoons-

Cerise finds the garment to be ugly and distasteful to wear. She is, however, trapped by a sweet little Yang and loving husband who want her to join in on the family fun.

Begrudgingly, she complies…and possibly likes it a little bit.

Kite: Okay, I’m going to toss you!

Raven: -squeal- Noooo! Daddy! Stop!

Kite: 1...2...

Raven: -giggles- No no no no no no!

Qrow: -snicker-

The kids have transformed for the first time at age 3. They’re both scared and precious little downy birbs who don’t know whats happening and are trying their best. Kite, being a good Daddy, keeps his kids close until they switch back. He doesn’t reveal how ridiculous and adorable they both look. I know it’s silly that Qrow can be picked up like a little kitten, by the scruff of his neck, but I drew it anyway. They’re shape shifters. If Kite wants to carry his son like this, he can. (By the way, Kite’s bird form is a Brahminy Kite)

Volgenest Flag and Emblem. When they founded the village, Kite had it tattooed on his shoulder to permanently tie him to what finally felt like home.

Having twins means double the blessings and double the mischief. Kite found a way to keep them out of trouble: Hold both at the same time and love them to pieces. Qrow usually took the shoulders and Raven sat comfortably in her Daddy’s arms.

Tawny Trough (pronounced ‘Tr-Oh’) is Kite’s stout, adoptive mother and Chief Eule’s old commander. She is a veteran warrior and can put men twice her size in their place (coughKitecough). Tawny is overjoyed when she finds out Cerise is pregnant and mother-hens her until her grandbabies arrive...then she mother-hen’s them.
