Just in case anyone interested, After much debate, I do believe my Volpup's name is Perun now! For future reference and all.
To me at least, I tried to follow what I could understand about the pronunciation but it's a weird one, it's pronounced sort of like pyerun, like um... p-ye-run with the ye like yes? Aaand I'm hopefully allowed a little leeway in pronunciation and what I pick for his name so yeahhhh? ...Maybe I should just spell his name Pyerun.... we'll see.
Just in case anyone wants to know for whatever reason it's a Slavic god, and the name's written in... Cyrillic alphabet I think? Like Перун so... yeah.
Anyway! Yeah, back to your regularly scheduled... er... nothing. At least from me. I'm going to sleep now. Night! XD
Fine. Just fine. I'll have you know I was sick and running on very little sleep as I wrote this, and I don't care to look at it anymore. It sucks but whatever.
And I still don't have a name for him. :c
For the first time as far as I can remember, I had absolutely nothing to do for Easter. In fact, I had forgotten what day it was until it was nearly the next day, only remembering when someone handed me a tiny little basket with some candy and some stuffed animal in it. Now this was perfectly fine with me, I'm not so big on sweets in the first place, and the lack of having any bit social gatherings or family events really did a lot to help make it just a relaxed and peaceful day. I hardly gave the basket more than a short glance over to check what I already knew would be in it as I set it down in my room, I was perfectly content with letting it sit till I decided I wanted a snack later, but... something possessed me to give it a more thorough look through.
I tilted the basket over carefully, letting the contents roll across my bed. I quickly realized my slight mistake when that... Easter grass stuff at the bottom of every basket came tumbling out as well, and I sighed, not looking forward to the clean up later. I quickly started scooping things up, putting them back into the basket for later, when a rather... large egg, caught my eye. I'm not entirely sure how I didn't notice the neon green thing before, it was almost bigger than my hand and between the size and color... well, it was safe to say I was confused. I picked up the basket again, now looking it over for any sort of card that I'd expect with something like this, and was instead met with a small note tucked into the side of the woven plastic.
"Happy Easter! Take careful care of this egg, it's part of an experiment of mine, and will hopefully serve you well in time to come. Bye!"
I frowned at the scrap of paper, reading it over a couple more times as if that would somehow give me more information, before sighing to turn back to the egg. I turned it carefully in my hands, noting what looked suspiciously like a radioactive sign. I froze, staring at it with something between confusion and worry. Where had this thing even come from? Was it safe? I'm not sure how long I stood there staring at it, certainly long enough that I was starting to notice that it was becoming dark in my room. I bit the inside of my lip, turning it over once more. It 'seemed' fine at least, I wasn't feeling any weird buzzing and it wasn't starting to glow as the lights went out, but who knew what else it might or might not do.
I reached for the tall floor lamp standing to the side of my room without looking, familiar enough with my surroundings to only take a couple tries to swipe at the switch before I found it and started to turn it.
A pain shot through my arm instantly, coursing up my arm and through me like fire. I felt my entire body tense, some detached part of my brain telling me that I needed to let go, that whatever I was grabbing was the source of the pain, though I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was. I was shaking, jerking, as the fire feeling spread, knifing and burning pain alternating, and suddenly the ground was rushing up to meet me and everything went dark.
----------------------------------------
When I next opened my eyes, it was to absolutely nothing but pain. My head hurt, my muscles hurt, I don't think there was a fiber of me that wasn't screaming, but I tried to turn my head regardless, very slowly able to make in the faint details of my dark room. I groaned at even that small movement, and very slowly clenched my hands into fists, freezing when I felt something foreign and brittle in my right, and something thin and cylindrical in my left. I lifted my head up a bit more, but quickly realized how dumb that was when it really didn't help me see a thing. What little I could remember was making me very worried about just what was in my hands however, and I knew eventually I'd have to get up and try and turn on a light or something, at least to check on myself and make sure I was okay.
A faint glow from behind me distracted me from my thoughts however, and I managed to turn my head a small fraction before I let it thump back to the carpet, another frustrated groan escaping me. What in the world /was/ that? I couldn't think of anything I owned that glowed like that, and it definitely wasn't coming from the closed door or window. A soft whisper of movement later, and the light suddenly shifted, seeming to bounce up before dropping to the ground next to me with a thump. I squeaked in alarm, not something i'm proud of, and managed to shift a small way to the side as my eyes struggled to adjust to the sudden light.
"Hello?" Came an oddly toned voice, as if slightly crackly and buzzy, as well as quiet and higher pitched. I blinked and stared at the light as the details began to filter through my foggy brain. It seemed silvery, a smooth.. oval shape, save for a crest on it's head that seemed to be emitting the majority of the light, along with a small patch around what looked like a beak. Bright blue wide eyes stared at me in what I swear was curiosity or worry. "Um, you don't look so good." It spoke again, and this time I saw it's beak move, which clicked it in my head that it was this... creature talking. /Talking./
"What... the hell." I managed, my voice scratching at my throat even at the low volume I muttered at as I continued staring at the thing blankly. It rocked slightly to the side, in what I realized was it basically tilting it's head... I think it was all head really, I couldn't see any appendages or anything.
"Nope, you don't sound too good either. Did you get shockified with me?" I blinked at it for a moment, only barely stopping myself from asking who the hell said 'shockified' when I realized it was right. I slowly dragged my left arm over to where I could see, and lo and behold, I recognized the object as the switch to turn on my lamp. The only thing I could think was that someone had turned it too far or something, and it broke the connection when I tried to turn it myself, but even that seemed too odd.
"With you?" I asked finally, directing my attention back to the weird ball of glowing light. It seemed to smile and bounce with energy.
"Yep! It gave me enough energy to hatch!" It shuffled closer slightly, rubbing up against my arm like a cat, and I swear I could feel it purring as it did. "Thank you very much." I stared at it, my confusion only growing as my brain swung back and forth between 'what the hell is this thing' and 'wow it looks like a digimon', which, let me tell you, when your brain's already half fried, it's hard to form any sort of coherent thought. Instead of dwelling on it however, I let my head fall slowly back to the ground. Whatever was happening, it'd be okay if I rested just a bit more... right?
