Adaptation
2007 – Jan – 11
I have gotten some cool pictures here in Dubai, but cannot get them to the computer yet. We have to go buy an adaptor that will change the voltage on the outlets so that I can plug the camera in without frying it (as I did with my travel coffee maker).
For those that don’t know, the adapters that you buy for use in other countries don’t do anything for the voltage conversion (US is lower than Europe and the Middle East). They work much like when you use a three to two converter on a power cord in the US. Their purpose is to allow our plugs to fit in their sockets.
Yes, I did have a travel coffee maker and I highly recommend it as it does work well, or should I say, did work well. Now, I have a pot that I boil water in, and I pour it through the machine and make coffee manually….just like Java House! I even use a three pour system, so if my career goes caput, I can pour coffee with the best of them.
Anyway, we are going to get one of these adaptors so that I can plug the camera in, and thus download the pics to the laptop, and then you can see them.
Tomorrow is Friday (our day off) and we are going to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. Suha has an old friend there she wants to visit and Jeff and I will be heading there to be tourists.
