Voltagegate
Jeez, my phone breaks and I'm gone from the fandom for two weeks and when I come back, all hell has broken loose. So Voltage's new terms in a nutshell are this: (please correct me if I'm wrong) 1) fan works are still using Voltage content as a base and therefore can be used by Voltage for whatever means without prior notice nor compensation to the fan artist. I thought that was pretty much how all fanart was supposed to be. Companies are mostly like "do what you want but don't try to make money off our ideas/content otherwise you'll be entering a world of pain." 2) Voltage now has a limited license agreement where if you don't open the app for 1 year, your personal information such as email address and save data *on their servers, not yours* will be purged for inactivity, and so they can make room for storing more junk. If I'm correct in my understanding, this DOES NOT mean that they're purging our purchases. We can use our transfer IDs to restore things (make sure you save your Transfer IDs!). I heard that there's also a "Restore Purchases" button that, as far as I've seen in posts, has been looked on with suspicion. I'm also wary of the fact that Transfer ID are linked to the email address (Apple or Android ID I suppose) used to purchase stories, so if they purge the email address.... Does that have an effect? Just a thought. After my phone broke, I was somehow lucky enough to get all of my Transfer IDs before the phone stopped booting up at all. I still have yet to reinstate them however, and so I haven't experienced any of the new changes firsthand. Was I close enough in my understanding of the new TOS? Did I miss anything important? Fandom, please advise!
