#10 - A hello/good-bye kiss that is given without thinking - where neither person thinks twice about it.

Marinette could feel her eyes droop, the arm that was holdingher head slowly sliding down on the table. It wasn’t exactly late, per se, butshe and her classmates had been working on a school project for hours already.Not only was it boring for her but having stayed up all night talking to Félixover the phone didn’t help matters.

They weren’t dating. They swore they weren’t dating. Thatthose coffee outings had nothing to do with dating. They were only two peoplewho knew each other and liked to make out. A lot. And occasionally talk. Allthe while their classmates thought they still hated each other.

Yet that didn’t stop her from wondering occasionally, what itwould be like to officially date him.

“Marinette!” Alya called out, making her jump on her chair. “Areyou listening?”

“Only the part about making a slide per theme.” Marinetteyawned.

“Of course she didn’t hear it,” Félix said, next to her, withthe same tired tone. “This is so boring.”

“Sorry we didn’t get a more interesting part of history,”Alya deadpanned at him. “Doesn’t change the fact that we need to get this done.”

“We have until Friday,” Félix argued. “We’ve done enough fortoday. Can we leave it here and meet again tomorrow?”

“I don’t wanna wait ‘til the last minute like last time,” sheretorted.

“We won’t,” Marinette said. “Some of us are just tired today.”

“You look like you haven’t slept in days,” Rose commented.

“I think it would be logical to leave the rest of the projectwhen our chances of making a coherent presentation are higher,” Max chimed in.

Alya sighed. “I guess you have a point there,” she muttered. “Fine.We’ll finish up tomorrow. Just work on your parts before Thursday, please.”

“Thank goodness,” Marinette sighed in relief while standing,picking up her books and papers. Everyone else followed. There was only onething that was missing. “Anybody seen my pencil?”

“Here,” Félix offered, holding out the red pencil.

“Thanks,” she said, yawning again. “I’ll see ya later.”

They gave each other a quick peck on the lips and Marinettemade her way towards the exit. It wasn’t until she was at the door, that sherealized what she had just done. No longer feeling so sleepy, she turned on herheels, to find Alya, Rose and Max staring wide-eyed at them both. All the whileFélix was frozen in his spot, looking like a kitty busted for mischief.

“What just happened here?!” Alya almost shouted, pointing atthem.

“I didn’t know you guys are a couple!” Rose squealed, handson her cheeks.

“This seems like a very illogical outcome, from what we’veseen the last four weeks of your relationship.”

“It’s nothing!” Marinette yelped, running back next to Félix.“We’re…Psh, no! That was nothing!”

“Absolutely nothing,” Félix agreed. “We haven’t doneanything. That was just a…um…kiss…”

He deflated, as if knowing how lame that sounded. Marinettesmacked a hand on her face. There was no getting out of this, and she knew it.How could she forget they were in front of their classmates?

“I thought you guys hated each other.” Alya narrowed hereyes.

“That fact may have been a little exaggerated in the lastthree weeks or so,” Félix muttered.

“Three weeks?!”

“You know what?” Marinette let out a nervous laugh andstarted pulling on Félix’s arm. “We really should get going. I am super tired.Gottagobye!”

She dragged Félix along with her, but instead of continuingtowards the school’s exit, she led him away to a hidden corner.

“You really think Alya is going to run after us?”

“Shh.” Marinette placed a finger on her lips. The couplepeeked around the corner to see Alya run out of the library, calling theirnames. Rose and Max trailing behind her. Marinette gave Félix a smug grin.

“Okay, you were right,” Félix admitted, raising hands insurrender. “I’ll trust your judgement when it comes to Alya. Buuut,” hedrawled, resting his forearm on the wall, “you realize our secret is out, right?”

“Ugh, I’m so sorry,” she groaned, covering her face. “I’m sosleep deprived, I forgot who we were with.”

“It’s fine,” he shrugged. “I kissed you back anyway. Took mea second to remember, too.”

“Thanks,” Marinette sighed, walking out of their hidingplace. “I think it’s safe to go now.”

“Marinette?” Félix called. When she turned to him, his hands werein his pockets, shoulders slightly hunched. “Are we dating?”

“Um,” said girl fiddled her fingers. “Do you want to?”

A soft smile almost instantly curled his lips. He walked upto her and took her hand, giving it a light kiss on the back.

“I do.”

I WAS. I’ll also have you know that for my 17th birthday I had a homemade sugar cookie cake that said “How old are you?” “Seventeen, sir!” on it in icing and my family made a lot of fun of me but it was worth it
